Found this one in Canada last night. Guess it was cheaper to cover the old label when they got in trouble for using the word bourbon.

Well it couldn't qualify as bourbon since it's made in Canada. Not sure of all the details but I'd imagine the fact that Bourbon was prominent on the label was the issue if it just said in smaller lettering "made with a bourbon mashbill" they might have been OK. Or maybe it can't even be considered a bourbon mash if it's made outside the US.

Other Canadian whiskies I have that try to mimic bourbon are called Brbn or Berbon

Sazerac was sued for calling their mini-Fireball bottles “whisky”…

And yes there are federal regulations that define “bourbon”, and there are consequences for using that word on a product sold in the US that doesn’t meet that definition.

Did some acquiring today. Widow Jane 13 and 15 I had been watching for on the strength of the 10y version.

@Hook78 has told me good things about Buzzard's Roost toasted barrel releases and I trust his opinion fully.

The Kentucky Spirit was aged in the Camp Nelson F rickhouse, which has gotten some press because of the Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse release from the same this year.

Dickel 15 year...is $60 for an age stated 15y whiskey and I had been looking for one of the over-100-proof bottles. Locally I only found 94-96 proof options. Happened on a 100.8 today. Based on how good the Dickel 13y/o BiB has been, I expect to enjoy this greatly. So much in fact I got two.

I have a bottle of 107 that’s a pick from Harlen Wheatley. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to cracking it.
