Define high corn mash bill? Just to be a bourbon they have to have 51%, and most are in the 60-70% range. There are very few with corn content at or above 80-90% and even less that are $30 or below. So maybe Mellow Corn it is. Buffalo Trace, by the way, is likely around 90% as are all the products with the #1 mash bill out of that distillery.

My personal favorite a few years ago was Makers.

Being from NY living amongst many farms growing corn, then it was Hudson Baby Burbon which was 100% corn and made in small barrels. It was priced reasonably. Now that they've been bought-out, I don't have the same opinion as their Bright Lights Big Bourbon (the renamed product is now 95% corn/5% malted barley). It evidently doesn't get great reviews anyway. Just shows you how little I know about bourbon (which I admit)!

I was thinking I'd try either Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked or maybe Widow Jane 10yr if I can find them.
I appreciate all the suggestions from you guys.

Well, none of those are high corn and only one is a value bourbon, so little confused about what you’re looking for, but they’re all good pours.

Just for reference on the concept of high corn, here’s the corn content of the three above compared to a bunch of everyday shelf stock:

    Makers: 70%
    Woodford Double Oaked: 72%
    Widow Jane: 70%

    Elijah Craig: 78%
    1792: 74%
    Knob Creek: 75%
    Wild Turkey: 75%
    Old Forester: 72%
    Evan Williams: 78%
    McKenna: 78%

So Maker’s, Woodford and Widow Jane really aren’t high corn. They’re pretty average, though there are also some shelfers out there like Four Roses and Bulleit with corn content in the 60’s.

If you considered high corn to be at least 80%, you could choose from such shelfers as:
    Jack Daniel’s: 80%
    George Dickel: 84%
    Mellow Corn: 80%
    and Michter’s: close at 79%

Anything with higher corn content is limited production and hard to find. I.W. Harper 15, some other allocateds, and a bunch of boutique or very small distillery stuff.

I wouldn’t bother hunting for a particular mash bill. Many whiskies with similar mash bills taste completely different. There are lots of other variables, particularly the yeast. All you can do is try different pours and settle on which bottles you like.

If you haven't had it, give 1792 small batch or knob creek 9 year (tan label, not black) a try. Both good for low cost

In the same boat. I have a bottle on the bar I go back to every few months and it just doesn’t improve. I won’t toss it but also won’t be “trying” it very often.

I still maintain the only good stuff Willett ever put out was the stuff they got from somewhere else.

Their green top rye is pretty good I guess.
