Supposed to be good. Bottle makes an appealing decanter.

Only $15 above msrp. I would jump on that. You could always seek out a bar that has one to sample before opening it. Then you could trade/sell it for something else if you don’t like it.
They look to be going for around $400 on secondary..

I have a bottle of Hibiki and 12 Yr Yamazaki that I need to move if anyone is interested.

Willing to sell upright or trade 2 for 1.

Left to right, we're dealing here with Blanton's Black Label (Japan only, 80 proof), Regular Ass Blanton's (93 proof), Red Label (Japan only, 93 proof and rumored to be a bit more aged than typical), and of course Gold (103 proof).

If they taste like they nose, this is going to ride basically by proof level. Which of course, makes me question whether Gold is really better barrels or if it's just the extra proof doing the work.

    Alright so:

    - The Black Label is as you would expect at 80 proof: Same flavor profile, but thin, watery, and muted. I generally don't care for 80 proof bourbon and this continues the trend.

    - I cannot distinguish between the Regular and Red. So, fuck it.

    - The Gold has a slightly sweeter flavor profile than the others. I'd wager these are higher tier barrels as well as being proofed higher.

Beyond that, it's Blanton's. If you've had it, you know it's worth the retail price but not much over. The Red and Black are cool as collector's pieces, but take a trip to Japan and get them at retail while you're there. Don't overpay a connect to get ahold of them here.

I'm finishing the night with some OGD Bonded, which is arguably better per dollar spent than any of these.

In that case you should just trash it along with the whole bottle. Send it to me for proper disposal.

Can you source Small Batch? We can trade if you'd like. I dont know what the cost of SiB is compared to the Small Batch. I paid retail for them about $50ish. I also have an eagle rare - I think that was about $40ish, also paid retail.

My score for the day. I’ve really enjoyed this 1792 FP bottle I have, excited to be able to get a backup. And then the Old Fitz 10yr. This will get cracked tonight!

Solid scores. I really like the 1792 SiB and FP.

And that Old Fitz is a rather valuable bottle.

    Enjoy!

It’s bottled by Buffalo Trace, distilled and aged in Alberta. The Sazerac master distiller/blender selects the barrels.
