And now that mainline Scotch has been finished, let's finish the night by sledgehammering me back in the other direction.

Bruichladdich's Octomore is the most heavily peated Scotch in the world. It clocks in at 128.9ppm peat. By comparison, well known peated Scotches like Talisker and Johnnie Walker Green come in at 20-30ppm.

The nose on this smells like a tire fire. I cannot wait.

The juice is so light in color! Wow! I need to dabble more into the peated. I have loved every Ardbeg I've tried and the one Bruichladdich (Classic Laddie). I had Laphroaig 10 year for the first time a couple weeks ago. I could not get passed the wet clay note it was presenting.

With all the scotch talk I’m curious about Costco’s latest gift set. They have 4 different sample sizes of their branded Scotch for around $70, before taxes. Has anyone tried these? I wasn’t able to grab a photo, but the Instagram link below shows the set:

Are those 375s? I can't tell the size. The price is right...by the age statements they are all base level single malts, so you should be fine at that price as long as it totals 750mL or more volume between all the samples.

I was at Costco today but didn't see that one. I did see the Scotch set below, but I think the cost was to much for me. Nice presentation with a couple Glencairn glasses.

They did have Nikka FTB for the lowest price I've ever seen. I already have a few in reserve, but couldn't pass up price so I added another.

As a side note, that Suntory AO World Whisky is absolute trash. Neck pour was undrinkable and a drain pour, week later same, month later same, couple of months... yep, same. Ended up drain pouring the whole bottle. Didn't even make an acceptable mixer.

I was able to pick up an Elijah Craig A123 today. Looking forward to comparing it to the B523 and C923 this weekend.

Found a pic online of the scotch tour mix. There are some unnamed distilleries and a few I've not heard of. A mix of old, mid and new ages.

I wasn't sure about buying smoke wagon recently because I didn't like the new releases. However, I'm very surprised how these single barrels actually taste a lot like their older single barrels back in the day. Quite solid if you're a SW fan.
