Favorite Whiskey?

I consider myself the Indiana Jones of bourbon.

 

Has anyone tried something like this? I like mystery boxes as a fun surprise for myself, especially around the holidays. But sometimes it seems like it's more about clearing out stock they can't sell haha.

I always wondered about this..it’s the same bottle as Rock Hill Farms..any input as to how it is?

 

Well, I would say it was... mild. Unobtrusive. Ephemeral. Sorta there, then gone in an instant. At least that was the bottle I had.

 

I paid $60 for a bottle a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what it's supposed to cost, but it was the first time I've ever seen it around here.

 

I just did a google search to get an idea of what they are asking. I think what you paid is regular retail, but maybe it's hard to get now and/or it became a trend. Haven't seen it locally in a long time and the online place are asking way too much.

Stopped by BevMo on my way to Costco. Didn't see anything special on the shelves, so I asked the guy about barrel strength Blanton's. The pained look on his face told me I wasn't the first, second or 100th to ask. He said they are the last store for deliveries (Fridays) and they don't usually get much. He did say they got a few Stagg and a few Eagle Rare, but there was a line at the door when they opened and those didn't last. Guess word got out about BevMo bottles this week!

Off to Costco I go, in search of Yamazaki 18. I've never seen the parking lot so full. Only open spaces were nearly to the REI building! Went in anyway, but no Yama out on display. Went to the merchandise pickup window and asked the lady about if she could look up the bottle. Funny, she developed the same pained look on her face the BevMo guy had! I imagine they get this all day, every day. So no, they didn't gave any. Too bad.

 

My TW has 99 bottles. 61 are Blanton’s or Blanton’s Barrel Select. 24 of a few others I’m interested in. So…I’ll probably make my way there and wait in line. I’d love an EHT BP, but only 4 of those. I’ll take another WEller FP and see if I can trade that with someone on here perhaps.

 

Found a purpose for this bottle. Was about to give it up to the drain, but it’s not bad as an Old Fashioned. Just don’t care for high malted barley mash bills.
