After looking the place up, I think I had heard of them before. Definitely looks like an interesting place not too far from Lake Tahoe.

My family has a place in South Lake Tahoe. We are up there 4 or 5 times a year. I will have to try to check that place out the next time I am up there!

Yep, took it apart today and what’s crazy is the entire thing is held together by just friction. The top and bottom fit into grooves in the staves, and are tongue and groove themselves with no adhesive. I’ll have to lay them out and glue and clamp them before I can do anything.

Plus now there’s char all over my lawn.

sounds like you need to watch some barrel videos on YouTube. The metal rings clamp it all together and then when it swells from the liquid it’s ridiculously tight

I knew all that but I thought the top was a solid single piece and not a bunch of tongue and groove planks. So when I started taking it apart I was a little surprised by the individual planks in the top.

I have a wine barrel that I use as a table on our patio. Bought a glass top for it and some bar height chairs. I’d love to get another one and turn into my bourbon cabinet!

    Have fun with your project!

I picked up a unicorn today - William Larue Weller. Unsure if my pics have been posting on here correctly, but I'll try. Also a store pick of Rare Character, which I have only had once and it was great.

Yeah, the most I have spent on a bottle, but a hard one to get your hands on. I have a buddy who has almost everything and this is his grail - may end up trading it but it will be for something equally desirable

I’m honestly not sure what is worth trading for that bottle. WLW is generally considered the best bottle period. I’ve had it, at a Whisky bar. It’s pretty great.. bottles like that are hard for me.. do you open them? What occasion do you open it? I’d probably save it for a special occasion and share it with a few bourbon head friends if it were mine. Either way congrats!!!

I might trade for an Eagle Rare 17, George T Stagg, or one of the Pappys. Yeah, some of th most respected reviewers (like Mininick) say this is the best bourbon full stop. And yes, it will be a special occasion bottle. I have an embarrassing number unopened.

My go to has been Eagle rare, but I hate standing in line for hours when V.A. A.B.C. decides to release bottles so I've been looking for a good everyday on the shelf alternative. So far I'm pleased.163C64D0-0B68-47C6-A419-02FD35070B76.jpg
