Rumors are they dumped some GTS barrels into batch 17 that weren't quite good enough to be GTS. Not sure if that's true, but it's intriguing.

here’s to Weller Wednesday as well! This is the last of a fat Weller SR bottle - I needed space in the cabinet and the crystal was empty…so!

And it’s been a bit since I’ve had this Weller. It’s not completely closed with the stopper being crystal, so perhaps that has made this taste amazingly smooth?

No Weller to be found in my area. Oh well, the last of my EC BP C23. Hopefully 2024 has a banger bottle as well. Cheers

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Trying some Tattersall this week. Not too bad. Reinforces my liking of Rye.

I think we have agreed on this in the past, I'm in the same situation. My buddy just got a smoker set up and I said I have a terrible bottle we can try it on. If it makes it palatable, great, if not, no loss.

Try-Days, Friday I line up 2-3 bottles I haven’t cracked, watch some Brewzle or Mash and Drum reviews…maybe a little ADHD - Matt, and see if the reviews line up.

Lately I've been gathering up different sherry/wine/port cask finishes to see if I really like them, or if it's just BS. Going really heavy on the finish with apricot brandy barrels is Barrel Craft - Seagrass. It's pretty heavy up front. It's really good, but not what I would consider a go to against traditional higher proof bourbon. My next favorite, and a big affordable surprise is Wyoming Whiskey double sherry cask. It's more traditional whiskey flavor with a little bit of the sherry cask at the end, really good approach in my opinion. The high west cask collection cabernet finish was recommended on several videos, so I gave it a crack. The price is reasonable, it's whiskey forward, and the cabernet flavor comes in right at the end. I really like it! After that, I picked up the Sagamore Spirits Maryland Rye/PX Sherry finish. If you like heavy grain forward rye's, you'll like this one, the port finish comes in at the end, but is pretty strong. Sagamore Rye's are for rye aficionado's, really potent "craft" type flavors. If you can find the high west cask collection (black label/cab finish), it's really worth the $. Compared to the garbage Leopold Brothers triple distilled Dickel (overpriced, harsh, just terrible)...it's a bargain.

Anyone in Longmont CO interested in some sample bottle swaps? Worked out well with another bourbon lover in Denver.
