Well, I've only had one release. :anonymous: 2018-04 Kitchen Table. By far the best Bourbon I've ever tried.

They had a surprising selection for being a little nothing burger joint!

While on the subject of 4 roses. Been enjoying this. Very floral nose. Quite well rounded. Have a second bottle of it stashed.

Picked these up recently as well. Excited to try the Willett 4yr rye. Don’t typically do finished bourbons but took a chance on the Doc Swinson’s at half the price of Joseph Magnus. Had a sample of it at total wine. Not overpowering on the sherry side..has some nice fruity notes while still retaining its bourbon profile.. at least that’s what I recall.

This is the first 1792 I’ve tried. Not bad. Not great. Haven’t reached a verdict on if I’ll buy it again.

Oh, you are probably hooked, then :D.

I had a very good batch in 2014 (I think?) before they started doing the small batch series. Then I had the 2015-01 and really fell in love. The rest, as they say, is history.

It’s in the area at specs! They had 6 bottles on the shelf in Lewisville yesterday. I bought 2, and it was mislabeled so it was less than $80 for the pair out the door.

Very nice selection. Some of the pricing is a little weird. Not saying too high or too low, because I don't know the market there, but relative to one another. Dickel Barrel Select for 16.5 and Blanton's for 14.5 seems backwards. That Dickel is a $35-40 bottle.

And speaking of the Blanton's, I'd be really curious to see the bottle. It states that it is 62.5% ABV. If so, the only way is if it is a Straight From the Barrel bottle of Blanton's, in which case the price and availability of the bottle changes significantly. You can only get that in some international markets. If you get a chance, check the bottle out. If it is, in fact, SFTB, buy and have a pour, then let me live vicariously through you . I've never tried the SFTB.

My hunch is that it is a slight typo on the menu, however.

At any rate, you're going to have a lot of fun trying stuff there!

Coworker just snagged one at the Specs in Arlington off of Eastchase. They had a couple of more, but I took a pass at the moment. Having to tap the brakes after the recent rye, um, 'investment'.

Less than $80 out the door is a fantastic deal on a really great rye.

I have yet to go back, but there is a bar here that has a great selection of bourbons. They had (that I remember), Elmer T. Lee, Buffalo Trace, Larceny, Russel's Reserve, Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Forester 1897, 1910,1920. Hibiki, Four Roses small and single...Those are the ones I remember. They had lots of scotch and rye too, but I didn't pay attention.

I'm an OBSV man myself. The high-ish rye is nicely balanced out by that creaminess, IMO. It is good stuff. Have a friend who was gifted a bottle of the barrel strength FR and it got me into exploring the FR line. I'm a fan.

Is the regular old Four Roses Bourbon any good?? You know...the cheap stuff?

I've never actually had the base model Four Roses. I can't image the base model would be bad per se, but for $30 MSRP the single barrel is a great everyday bourbon and is readily available (at least where I live). I've never had it be out of stock in any of the liquor stores I frequent. And it has that lovely spicy/creamy OBSV "profile" that I like. Occasionally you'll find "custom" bottlings (like mentioned above) that will have different bottles with different profiles, but the common Single Barrel is always OBSV.

EDIT: If "cheap" is what you're after, I highly recommend Wild Turkey 101. At the $20 price point, it's hard to beat. Spicy, hot, not terribly complex, but perfectly decent with a splash of water or ice cube. I use it to make my old fashioned cocktails because of the rye spiciness WT is known for. Just make sure you get the glass bottle. They sell WT101 in a plastic bottle, but that's just not classy, IMO. Unless you like doing the old drinking out of a paper bag bit :)

Thanks Guys!. It was one of the projects I built for my wife 14-15 years ago. Here's a little better pic and as you can see I've sorta took it over.
She's been after me to buy a designated liqueur cabinet so she can have it back.
I keep stalling as I'd rather spend the money on new Whiskey's. :D

Anyone recommend a good liquor store in Dublin, Ohio? I'm traveling there for work at the end of February and thought it would be interesting to hit up a few stores to see what is available there vs here in California. I'm staying near where the 270 and 33 cross.

I have fantasies of hitting the motherload and having the dilemma of how to get a dozen bottles of various liquor back!

You already have more than you can drink in a day. Best to buy or build a new cabinet and keep the wife happy.

You ought to look for an Old Forester Rye, too. $22-25 and I've heard it is a really, really good rye.

Yeah, I just haven't felt like having a 'good' whiskey lately, for some reason. Been in the mood for something a little sharper, less smooth & refined, I guess. I've been drinking the Rye straight up this week but was drinking Old Fashioneds with a CC base last week :notsure:
