It wasn't available as they were doing some staff pick that was called blueberry crumble. I did get to go into the cellar that they excavated from below the pond on the hillside. I asked what releases they would be coming from that "don't call it a cave" cellar and they said mostly barrel picks from customers that needed some more time. The floor was lined with picks awaiting bottling. The line was closed on the weekends though so we didn't see production except for the facility.

I saw a few of you posting pics of this so I decided to give it a go.

Do yall have a recommendation for a peppery, almost spicy, whisky/bourbon?

Love those black labels, and the 1792 Single Barrels are usually awesome. Nice score.

It's a solid "everyday" pour that doesn't break the bank

I’m in colorado this weekend and think I have access to this. Bottle is up there in cost, is there anything you would compare this to? Ive been tempted to buy, but I’ve kept myself from spending on bottles I don’t know about lately.

It is my favorite from my flight. It is $115 at the distillery. I can’t tell you what to do with your money, but I am leaving with a bottle.

One of my favorite distillerys in CO is Deerhammer. Honestly what got me into whiskey. Laws and Leopold aren't bad either.

The trip to Buena Vista is worth it already.

Tonight’s comparison: Belle Meade 108.4 reserve, Nelson Bros Reserve 107.8, and Nelson Green Brier sour mash, 91.

Backstory, Belle Meade is discontinued…but it’s actually Nelson Bros reserve, Green Brier is the lower proof version.

Belle Meade, love it, absolutely, a bit hot up front, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruit, a bit peppery on finish, nose a bit astringent.
Nelson Reserve, VERY similar, but I believe just a bit smoother, similar finish.

Nelson Green Brier…man in hat to say this because I’m a proof whore…similar flavor profile, a bit of peanut up front, doesn’t have the proof burn, and less duration on the finish…but man, I almost prefer it to the 108 proof.

I’ve got the Sweet Wheat and SIB. Got interested from some fellow sample swappers on here. Hate to say it…after I spent the $$$….not a fan
