You won't be disappointed. Breaking Bourbon.com rated it one of the best Bourbons under $30.
I stopped in at a local store as I do weekly just looking to see if they might have anything special. As usual they didn't.
As I was getting ready to leave I saw this as I always do as it is always in stock. I thought what the hell for $27.
Man was I surprised. Just wish I had bought it sooner. I'm gonna have to question myself paying $50 or so for those others again.

OGD 114 here is $20. :anonymous:

It is an excellent value. The only thing that suggests it is a "cheaper" whiskey is that the finish is short. Not bad, mind you, just short. But for a $20 whiskey, that is a really minor gripe. I like the fat cork, too .

Yea, I noticed that "fat cork" right away. That large mouth and 114 proof could prove quite a combination.

You should have some more whiskey to review this evening, if I'm not mistaken.

The 12 year was great. The 8 was a little more challenging, hence why it was much fuller when my buddy let me try it. He wound up sending it home with me.

It was good, a bit more bite than the 12 year (my favorite of the RB). I liked it, but my boss said he wasn't a fan compared to the 12. He's a bit particular in his tastes (hated Whistle Pig 15 year and Blantons). Need to have a full glass to really get a good review, but liked the small amount I tasted so far. The whiskey lives under my desk since clients come in, so I get to take drinks when I feel like it luckily.

@bvbull200 Can I interest you in a bottle at price or trade? Had to drive to Sherman today and found some goodies along the way.

My buddy just got back from Kentucky and brought me some stuff. The OF Rye just happened to be a few bucks cheaper, so I had him grab me a bottle. The Heaven Hill 6 year is supposed to be a fantastic cheapie. Those were $10 a piece. One headed to another buddy of mine. I was most excited about the New Riff. The rye is going to a friend and I'm keeping the barrel proof single barrel. Might be all hype and fashion, but we'll see. Regardless, the bottles look great. The Driftless Glen straight rye was the "dealer's choice" that he brought back. I always give him a few extra bucks ($40 in this case) to pick up something recommended by the locals or that looks interesting to him. He ends up going to Kentucky to get me a rye made in Wisconsin . It'll still be fun to try. Bourbon cream because it's still cold enough and worth having a little nip in your morning coffee ;).

Picked this up the other day. I lost a bet with my cousin in Wisconsin and this was his requested payoff. I was having trouble finding it, but my local guy had a bottle brought in to his store for me. It's the distillery that Bob Dylan is a part of.

It's already packed and shipped up north. Mom flew up there today. I head up tomorrow for my grandfather's funeral on Friday. We'll all have a few pulls, I'm sure, while telling stories.
