Thanks man. A local guy mentioned that the ABC Store in Manasshole, and Warrenton had a decent variety. Not necessarily looking for allocated, but something interesting that isn't released in CO would catch my interest.

Solid chance at some John J. Bowman single barrel.

The stores are gonna have some local VA stuff that you couldn’t get in CO, other than the above can’t think of any of it that you’d want though.

Some of the prices are actually very good. Just in a VA ABC today, Green Spot was 57 a bottle.

I’m not sure how excited I’m willing to get about $3 below MSRP, but point being that the vast majority of prices in states like VA, NC, OH, etc are at MSRP (DSRP?) so you’re not going to have to worry about paying inflated prices. In NC I’ve noticed that a handful of seemingly random bottles have had price increases above retail — add Green Spot to the list apparently. But by and large in these states you know you’re getting a nice low price regardless of allocated or not. And you also know that it doesn’t matter which store you go to, the prices are all the same. No time-consuming shopping around.

However, ABCs prices aren’t as low as the true bottom of the market, which is seen at places like Total Wine or Costco in non controlled states.

I have to go to D.C. yearly and never had any luck in their liquor stores. Not a big fan of the city as a whole but that’s another talk lol.
I’ve had great luck in VA. The prices were much, better as was the selection. Happy hunting. Cheers

unless VA has a random drop it’s pointless, MD and DC are you better chances of finding stuff.

Edit: Ancient ancient age, JTS brown BIB, and coopers craft 100 are the things I usually look for in VA…..handle of AA for like 40 bucks

I'm all about picking up a JTS Brown, they don't have it here in CO. There is another local distiller out of Culpepper I want to check out....Copper Fox? Something like that. I was very drunk a long time ago, looking at our company CEO massive bobblers, and thought hey, if I'm this lit, maybe I need to buy a bottle next time I'm in town.

I've seen the Garrison Bros stuff on the shelf, but I haven't been willing to pull the trigger on them yet. What'd you think of your flight?

    As a generalism:

    Over 100 proof: Yummy.
    Under 100 proof: Don't.

And you'd be perfectly within your rights to decide all of it is too expensive. Some of their bottles carry a very heavy tag.

I agree they are quite pricy. My wife liked the Honeydew and of course my favorite was the Balmorhea, but it was $180 a bottle. I enjoyed my single pour instead.

I did not get anything there because I am waiting to visit the place that Ramon recommended.

Headed back into Austin now. Still Austin is the plan for tomorrow after we pick up my son from the airport. He really wants to be included in that adventure.
