    Wolves hops infused whiskey:

O.K. this is going to get weird....like you walked in to see your proctologist, and he's wearing a leather zipper mask, and is holding a rubber fist with vegetable oil dripping off of it weird.

On the nose, it's interestingly odd. Like a perfect match of scotch, and rye whiskey....with an odd aftertaste of a hoppy beer shooter. It's very apricot on the nose, with almost a green peat/mossy scent. On the palate, sweet, followed by flowers, hoppy beer, butterscotch, and then very distinct hops finish. If you had on a blindfold, you might think it's a Balcones offering (honeydew melon notes). It's an odd mix, especially for a $130 bottle. It would be great paired with a heffeweizen, hazy ale, or even a Belgian summer wheat. If you're into interesting, weird, and unique, it's for you, if you're not into it, then you wasted about 5 bottles of Old Grandad 114.

A fun mail call today. Bottle on the far right is officially the most interesting one I own. 28 year old.

    Bowman port finish,

Very Buffalo Trace. Sweet, and perfumery on the nose. Confectionary sugar, BT traditional grape, cherry, raspberry, and very light proof. Lighter than eagle rare.

Easy sipper, inexpensive, I prefer the Bowman Rye, but definitely will purchase again. Short finish, only the port remains mid palate

Bowman Rye, are you talking about one of the Abraham Bowman limited editions? Those are very hard to get.

Was really curious about this one having never tried a hazmat. Well, wow. A crisp granny apple drizzled in caramel. Oaky berry compote on the finish. There’s a darker sweet almost molasses flavor in there somewhere. Tried it neat first, it wasn’t nearly as hot as I expected. A sliver of ice enhances the flavors. What a great pour. I wish I’d bought two dammit.

I wish I could afford that super hard to find Rye! I'm just skulking around the low $ offering, which I think is actually darned good for the $$.

JJB SiB is just a regular whiskey not a rye, speculated to be BT mash bill #1 distilled again and then aged at Bowman. BT #1 is known as a low-rye recipe, only about 10% allegedly. The only rye Bowman makes is in some of those special editions, everything else is originally the BT white dog.

I think I heard a rumor somewhere that they are getting rid of the green label for this very reason. The very first time I saw it I thought it was a rye and was going to pass on it. I looked back a little closer and just realized it was a SiB
