I have about a half dozen Elijah Craig offerings I've totally ignored. In the process of moving, and building a bar. Once I get established, I'll certainly attack all 6, and end up with some sort of a tale of debauchery involving an HOA board member in her late 60's, and perhaps a hot tub. Damn, I hate establishing new relationships

I got one on the first drop. Tried for another on the “redo” and was unsuccessful. The second crash was much worse.

It used to be $25 in my area, I literally just picked up another for $30. Have not seen the larger 1L and 1.5L bottles in a year.

Makes sense why there were 3 still there. They also had Whistle pig 21 yr for $950. Both were out of my budget.

If you like bourbon and rum, look for Richalnd rum.
Made from sugar cane juice from the sugar cane they grow. All are single barrel pours. Taste closer to bourbon than sugar sweet brown rum.
I liked all of them, but especially rum finished in port and terrapin barrels.
Also have a bottle of their rum finished in 16 yo scotch barrels from Scotland, but that will, probably, never get opened.

That Breckenridge was not very good, so I am going to follow it with one that I know is.

Their distillery tour is awesome too.
I saw Richland Scotch finished rum only in their distilery store, never in retail stores. They had only 3 or 4 barrels of it, IIRC, so I bit the bullet and bought a bottle.

Ha! I know…I thought the same last night when I posted this and saw the date. Couldn’t believe I’ve had it for that long. Just not a bottle I drink an often, until recently when I picked up a few over the last year.

I hate to say this, but 90% of the distilleries in Colorado are garbage,

As to the question of the rumor, I came across this video.
    https://youtu.be/VyTi2rbx0EQ?si=5YCCUOONE3WgRCyN
    From the video description:
UPDATE: Rob Simonson, the author of the vinepair OGD114 article, posted this update on July 11 2024 his IG : "UPDATE: so the people at Beam reached out to me to let me know that Old-Grand Dad 114 is indeed still in production and will continue to be. This despite the fact that two other people from Beam told me the opposite last March. It would be great if there was more clarity and transparency in the communications from large liquor corporations but the situation is what it is and we booze reporters do the best that we can. Sorry for the confusion. And hooray that old granddad 114 is still around!"
