So our cigar lounge received a donation of 20 bottles of old (as in supposedly 30 yo) bourbons. I am skeptical of the age but the selection was solid…... I pulled out the Barrel proof Rare breed… if you happen to know how old this bottle is please enlighten me….

That bottle likely dates somewhere from the early 2010s.

In 2011, the WT logo changed to the sepia-tinted, side profile turkey you see here. That same year, distilling moved from the Anderson County facility to the current Lawrenceburg facility and the use of "Austin Nichols Distilling" was phased off of labels in favor of the current "Wild Turkey Distilling Company". Since this bottle specs 'Austin Nichols in Lawrenceburg", I'm guessing it was around the time of the transition.

The current Rare Breed bottle shape was put into service in 2017, so it had to be before then clearly.

Any indication of proof or any engraved codes on the bottle? That would help narrow it down.

With the mention of this EC18 recently, I thought I’d pour a sipper while I tend to the tri tip I have on the kettle grill. A small ice chip added in and this is much better than I remember. I guess being open for a bit has helped it some.

Finished up this coffee table today and am celebrating with a fat pour of one of my best bottles.

    Cheers!

There's still a few reds out there on shelves. Historically they're gone by now, so if anyone wants one - hit me up asap

Newbie here been reading and learning from everybody on here. I'm not a big drinker but when I do imbibe, I love me some tasty bourbon or whiskey. Tullemore dew 12 has a been a favorite. Recently turned on to a small store (gas station) here in Maine that the owner has a good eye for single batch bourbons etc. I'm eyeing a few bottles he's supposed to have on the shelve, one being Blood Oath part 10, the other 2 are EH Taylor Jr. barrel proof and EH Taylor warehouse. Am I headed in the right direction?

    I’m gonna guess you’re just trolling us….

You know a store they have Taylor Full Proof and Warehouse C on the shelf? If that’s actually true go buy them all (providing they aren’t marked up 10X) and people will be happy to buy them from you. I have a full proof I bought at MSRP, but that’s an extremely rare bottle. Warehouse C even more so.

Blood Oath “Pact 10” is a finished bourbon in wine casks so if that’s your jam go for it. Some finished whiskeys are good others aren’t.

Hmmmm where in Maine? I just spent the night in Mount Vernon driveway camping on my way to the North Woods today. Packing up now and headed to Fort Kent in a few mins.

Nice!!! I’m headed up to go fishing. I live in upstate NY so a Maine moose hunt will probably never happen for me. I did shoot a Bull in 2011 and one in 2012 both in Nakina Ontario and I haven’t been back since. Probably something I should do again at some point.

Well I stopped in the store and he is a better person than he is at updating his computer. I did connect with him and feel going forward he will get some of the products I am searching for. Maine spirits are run through the State so not sure how much product he would buy out of their system if any. No EH Taylor, no Blood Oath. I just picked this up for a try although I would've preferred the 10yr. PXL_20240916_142530070.jpg

Decided to revisit this Rare Character. Initially it seems really hot, and that hides the flavor profile. Poured another last night, added a six drops of water…didn’t make any difference, it’s just so full of ethanol it’s really unpleasant. I’ll sit this on the back of the shelf and mix it with something dumb down the road

    thumbs down

amazing...thanks!!! i did "sample" it and i liked it quite a bit... proof and engraving codes i am unsure but i can check.. it was a barrel proof bottle.so.best guess is 110 ish for proof....but you probably already know that based on your bourbon knowledge..... thanks again....going to go through the rest of the box while checking codes/proof.....
