I just had a pour of the SiB locally and the EH SiB was much better. I luckily found a SiB for 99 at a small shop on vacation and traded it to a friend to complete his collection. Would have driven me crazy sitting there unopened and killed me to open it at the same time...

100%, I never open my RHF anymore. It's good, but bland IMO and not worth the secondary or chase.

Hahahaha it's been a long time! I've wandered in from time to time, but 3 kids and everything has kept me off the trails/forums a lot. Luckily they are getting older/easier and I'm starting to gain some time back. Just got back into whiskey last year and it's been quite the awakening with everything going on with it.

Picked up a 15 Tundra couple years ago to tow our trailer and been slowly modding that. Too big for any serious trails, but hoping to get it out camping/light trails soon.

    How have you been?

I’d take a Taylor small batch any day over a Weller Special reserve, so it makes sense that I’d also prefer the Taylor SiB to the Weller SiB. From the specs there’s nothing particularly special about it except a little higher proof, it being a single barrel, and…scarcity. It’s no older than SR.

After a SBS last night I preferred the RHF. It’s a smooth slice of apple pie with a little cherry on top. Creamy, almost buttery. The JD 12 has a massive burst of flavor on the palate but it’s also got a bit of a harsh edge.

In all things alcohol I generally prefer a lighter fruit profile to anything with darker heavier sweet notes (butterscotch, maple, chocolate etc)…just like I prefer a wheat beer to a stout. So really not better/worse but just which profile I personally prefer.

RHF is perfect on a summer day, JD12 is the right pour for a cold night around a fire.

Exactly, it's good, but hard to justify that price.

I'm alive! I had been off the site for awhile, now I just log in to observe chaos - throw grenades in random conversations and continue observing. Ha, Still have the Tacoma - sold the 4runner awhile back right before Covid

Looks exactly like my handwriting....except, I've never had Old Carter.....maybe he's my doppelgänger, with an actual bourbon budget? Instead of sacrificing grocery money for Stagg, lol.

Ive seen a lot of Cat Head distillery featured on Brewzle. Its smaller distilling, craft, but classic bourbon. A bit of a bite up front, but just a bit. Classic brown sugar bourbon, a little cinnamon, some orange on the finish, maybe with some vanilla-peach. I really like it
