Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
Funny story about that... apparently Johnny walker owns the crow and raven animals as a copyright/trademark. And they pursue anyone who tries to use it in their logos. I toured a small distillery in Seattle that had to change their logo as a result.

To JW's credit though, they were appreciative that they changed without fuss and hooked them up with some awesome barrel distributors for cooperating.

Looks like someone drove to Lynchburg and stocked up, and selling for a decent (as in small) markup for travel and whatnot. I really want one to turn into a drum smoker someday! next time I go back there, I'm bringing a couple back for sure!

I'd bandwagon that one with ya. I'll be back up there in the fall and could pick it up then :D

Maybe I just need to visit the distillery again, stock up and take the scenic route home

When I was in VA I toured the Copper Fox distillery, and they waxed their corks (with blue wax, to avoid being too close a copy of Maker's Mark) and the tour guide was telling me about how they actually got threatened with a law suit by Maker's Mark. Apparently MM has trademarked a red wax cap AND drips of wax down the bottle. So to get around it Copper Fox started dipping their bottles, then rolling them down a countertop to avoid the wax drips (and add a 'foxtail' swirl on the cap from the rolling motion, which they've now trademarked). The new bottles I've seen, though, don't have the wax, so they may have decided it's not worth the trouble.

As an aside, the smoking method they use gives the whiskey a VERY smokey flavor. It's good, but I have to be in the right mood for it. I think that if they barreled it at a higher proof and gave it 5 years to age it'd be excellent.

I've had the same thought about converting to a drum smoker as well, just haven't gotten around to it. I have an extra barrel in the backyard (was used for a bourbon barrel stout from a local brewery). The first one I acquired, I disassembled for various projects and have ended up cooking with a lot of the wood :D.

I'll tell you, those Jack Daniels barrels look to be in a hell of a lot better shape than most barrels I saw being aged this past weekend. I wonder how "authentic" those are or if they are just refinished.

Most were like this (from Jim Beam):

There were younger barrels, though, that were in better shape (Old Forester):

Some really funky :D (Heaven Hill *really* old barrels):

He had other pictures in the listing. One of them it looked like they are picking up the barrels at the warehouse. Saw people loading up trailers. Made me want to go there and get some.

they are $183 on the website. Can't remember how much they were locally. around 150 iirc. been a couple years though. Shipping was 113... so $300 to order to here. Tempting... but I can wait.

Forgot about a conversation I had this weekend when I was on the Whiskey hunt: Went to the Bottle Shop in Columbus, GA (awesome store by the way) and was talking to their whiskey guy. He said that a good customer of his was telling him about a liquor store that had been around the area for a really long time and had changed hands sometime recently. Supposedly, they have a bottle of Blanton's from 1984, no letters on the horse stopper. Owner said he entertain offers of 2k or more.

I've never understood that, paying more for a bottle just because it's old (unless it's a rare blend that isn't easy to find/can't be found any more). It's not like it improves at all once it's in the bottle; the aging is all done as soon as they seal that cork. :notsure:
