My go-to weekend drink is Evan Williams and Vanilla Coke, Coke, or Sprite

On holidays and other occasions, I do Bulleit, Four Roses, or Elijah Craig on ice or with water

    Everything else, I drink neat

Ha, ha. It is an acquired taste. Even though it's more of a shot drink....it's nice to sit out on the deck on a cool fall night and sip it.

Oh yeah, that's usually my go-to if I'm out and someone wants to take a shot, but it's definitely not a top-quality whiskey lol

I like knob creek for old fashions.

Haha! I'm 26 (Be 27 in Jan). My plan is to buy myself a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year when I graduate from law school.

I have a question for you guys. Over the last year I started drinking whiskey. Before that I pretty much only drank beer and the good stuff(Budlight, don't judge). When going places for parties I would buy a six pack drink a few and just leave the left overs with the host because I knew someone would drink it. Only a few people drink whiskey in my family and they have their brands and I've never seen them drink anything else. So etiquette wise should I buy a new bottle and leave it with the host or bring a bottle from home(new or opened) and take it back with me? Don't want it to make it seem like I'm a cheap ass but I wouldn't want it going to waste.

This is where a small flask is your friend. Nothing goes to waste.

I'd recommend a Bulliet Rye Old Fashioned, with a cherry.
Whistlepig makes a damned good Old Fashioned too.

Make sure you use a good Bitters, though. Angostura is ok, but I like the Scrappy's Orange bitters for an Old Fashioned.

this guy has the right idea.
If you know they are whiskey drinkers then leaving a bottle is a nice touch, if you plan to have it during the gathering.

For Thanksgiving my in laws friend brought a bottle of scotch to share, needless to say the bottle didn't last long

Or just pick up a pint and bring that. Then you can leave it if you want and you're only out a couple of bucks.

Yep flask and some other drink for the host, get a titatnium flask the snow peak one is expensive but worth it. Tittaium will not affect the flavour of the whiskey.
