My first expensive whisky: The Balvenie 12 year single malt double wood. I think I may still prefer the Chivas 12 year blended scotch, not sure though.15591771479353218461681524935399.jpg

Picked up a bottle of plain old Henry McKenna today. First time I've seen anything HM around these parts since I've started looking.
No rush to open, just added it to the stash.

For some reason they started hiding the Henry McKenna and regular Angels Envy behind the counter at the local Total Wine like they do with the allocated stuff. Don't care for the Angels Envy, rye or regular. I have a bottle of HM I haven't opened yet. Let us know how you like it.

I’d plan for 150 bottles. But as bvbull200 stated many things factor into that. Short barrels happen and I’ve seen a single barrel yield 60ish bottles and sometimes even less. 200 would be on the higher end (for stuff I’d want to pick anyway). Cost depends on the juice of course. Link up with a local store and do a pick through them depending on how your liquor laws are. We pair up with a store, and he sells the bottles. Members can mule for other members.

Unless your local store has a good connection, the first couple to few picks may not be anything special.

I think he's talking about the Henry McKenna sour mash and not the 10yr BiB. Doubt the sour mash is allocated, unless they know something I don't.

The standard affair HM isn't half bad.

Thanks for the info! I have a store I could work with. Planning a pick for a group of us and I will be using that store to facilitate.

I'll see how that goes first, then report back.

Go chat him/her up and let them know you’re excited to do a local group pick that could bring additional customers to his store.

Yeah just Sour Mash. $27ish, will be awhile before I open.

Was bored, and coincidentally sipping on some Booker's lol. Tried re-lining and my take on coloring of your Pitfaced logo @bvbull200

I was talking to my local secondary dude, mentioning that I would like him to hold a bottle of Blanton's for me if he ever gets it in. He said that he needed to do a barrel to get it and it was 20k+

    Shit.

That is AWESOME. I need the flat logo for easy stuff like letterhead, stickers, etc., but the depth on that version of the logo is super cool for other stuff like the web, Facebook page, etc.

Saved for potential future use ;).

Ah, another idea that came up recently.
I got a local ABC to start stocking OGD 114. Well when they finally got a case in and I was checking out with a couple bottles, I struck up a conversation with a good old boy behind me about the wide mouth/ big cork it had.
The idea, that I share with y'all now, is that the empties would make great bottles to stuff peppers down and fill with vinegar, such as tabasco peppers, etc.

You meaning that basically anything worthwhile will have some age on it, and because of that, it will have evaporated off giving less bottles?
    I can see that.

Just finished off a bottle of Doublewood. Next up: recommended by a scotch drinker I met at Costco.
