sooo... stopped by a small place over lunch. They had a lot of good stuff. It'll take a real special person to buy them though... :bananadead::eek:

RHF, ETL, and OWA were $250 (150,150,70)
    GTS was $900 (425)
    Blanton's $185. (105)

I laughed. a lot... secondary prices in parenthesis for reference. and even those are high

I asked about Stagg while there. They didn't carry it. But the bartender did tell me about a sister restaurant about 3 blocks over that did carry Stagg and Pappy too! Walked over there the next evening while the wife was getting ready for diner. (two hours it takes her )
And sure enough all the Pappy and Stagg one wanted to down, all chained up.
    Stagg only $165 a pour
    Pappy 12 year $250 a pour
And Pappy 15 only $300 a pour

didn't even ask tbh... I figured it was over $100 given the others...

I did get offered some ER at another store though at cost. I still have 1.5 bottles left so I left that one there.

If no one has tried it, I'd reccomend Wild Turkey Master's Keep.

Picked up a bottle for my father as a retirement gift and he loved it

Edit: anyone in the Tacoma area, hit Stack House 571. If you are looking for it, they have it ( mostly )

I was just curious, given those other crazy prices. I picked up 2 750s of Eagle Rare today for $26.79 each.

I would like to live in a state where liquor stores can set their own prices. In Ohio the state sets the price of all hard liquor, so the price of any specific whiskey is the same in every store in the state. No sale prices.

It's a double edged sword. For the most part the chain places have great prices but rarely get the allocated stuff, but when they do and you time it right it's like striking gold. The independent stores have the rare stuff more often, but at a huge markup.

I got my giant bottle of Weller in Ohio and packed it back in my suitcase. Here - never seen it in a chain place and the independents want crazy prices.

For anyone in the San Diego area, Henebery Rye Whiskey is amazing. It's $40 a bottle, and its some of the best damn whiskey I've had.

They're a member's only tasting room, and their public hours are very short. Think 1 hr per day (3pm-4pm) Fri & Sat, but members get full business hours. They had to do a "member's" style distillery to circumvent a lot of SD County / Vista City laws on distilleries. During their public hours, you can purchase their rye whiskey and have a total of 1.5 oz for tastings.

If you're a member, its a regular bar at that point and now you can purchase their full line up. Becoming a member is easy. You just have to purchase at least 1 bottle every 3 months for 1 year I believe and they ship too. So if you just buy the cheapest bottle at $35, you can have a super high quality rye whiskey, bourbon, and cocktail lounge that's quite relaxed.

A big plus is that there is a brewery next door.

They had this behind the counter at TW today. I didn't know anything about it and was in a hurry so no time to research it. So much of a hurry I forgot to look for the peanut butter whiskey! Doh!

Seems like an interesting Scotch. It just came out so reviews are scarce.

If only this were retail price and local... I know a lot of people think the SR is better. But I dunno... I'll go check :D

You trading the OWA? That sounds like it's in your favor for sure if you're getting the Jr.

My thoughts, the SR is more refined and smooth. Less alcohol is obvious. The 107 is a better drink to me though. Not anything against the SR at all. Just a heads up test.

I agree. I'll be out of OWA though until my local shop gets their barrel pick in August. I pray that I can make it 2 months.
