While we’re posting old stuff, I forgot to show y’all this before. My mother in law gave me these earlier in the year. The sake is unopened, the chivas is empty (but I think she said she has a full one). Unknown age

    That is AWESOME.

If I ever start to move away from whiskey or add another vice, it's either rum or cognac/armagnac.

    That bottle is way cool.

Agreed. And this group isn't snobby, either, which is nice.

My cousin picked up my Barrel Strength Rye today. I should have it in a couple weeks. It's getting gifted, though. :D

Sweet mother of pearl! This batch is 67.6%. The guy at the shop recommended it; if I was "up for the challenge." Challenge accepted. He recommended adding a splash of water and letting it rest for 20 minutes. I cracked it open, took a whiff, poured a dram, and took a tiny sip. Holy shamole! I thought Booker's had a kick. I'm currently letting it open up while I post this, and give my mouth some time to recover. I do sense a nice finish of dates/currants, and it smells rather sweet right off that bat. It'll be interesting to see how it opens up after a rest.

    I've got a bottle that's close (129.5). I'm a little afraid to drink it!

Do it! I've been sipping on the same pour for almost an hour now... It's mellowed out quite a bit and has quite a bit going on. No water, yet. Nice finish of rum/raisin. I'd be interested in comparing this to the Stagg!

Stopped at at least 6 liquor stores on the way to the coast last week. Asked at everyone of them if the had anything special hidden anywhere.
Below was my total haul. Not much but at least here where the State controls booze. At least they were all retail price.
