I don't really care for drinking anymore, but my wife got me to try The Nikka 12 which is a fine Japanese whiskey. Ive got to say...its extremely smooth and tastes just as good. I also like Hibiki Japanese whiskey.

There was some hibiki on the shelf the other day at Total Wine in Denton... Almost picked it up but I am not a fan of single malts. Maybe I should have?

    Desperation Plea....

If anyone happens to come across some E.H. Taylor Amaranth in the coming weeks please let me know! I want to try this stuff and it's gonna be a limited run and will be probably only available to allocation lists or buddies, but I'm crossing my fingers. :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: Willing to make it worth it.

My parents have decided to move out of state, with this my dad doesnt want to move that much stuff, so he gave me a lot of his whiskey (score) and he also gave me his ice WinterSmith's iceball mold. Stoked about this, he didnt know but I was looking at cheaper versions of this on Amazon, this one will do 4 instead of 2 and will do ball ice as well as cube. In the freezer now, looking forward to clear ice!

I live in Elkhorn, still close enough to get to games on Saturday's but away from the terrible drivers in Lincoln on a daily basis haha. I spend a good chunk of my time out in Wood River (home of the great Scott Frost) on my in-laws farm. Cybersecurity guy by trade, trading in system security for dirt/humidity/heat/bugs whenever they need me haha.

personally I think it tasted nice. im no connoisseur by any means though. it also depends on the age of the hibiki. I think the one we have was 9 years old? id have to double check. if the bottle isn't super expensive then id say give her a try.

To make this whiskey related... If we are ever in/near Lincoln around the same time, First one is on me :cheers:

Haven't pulled the trigger on any garrison whiskies yet but I'm real curious. How's that Balmorhea? Visited Blamorhea once, not much to that little town but the spring fed park was a nice desert oasis.

Currently enjoying a little Edradour 9yo Madeira cask night cap... tired as hell tonight!

Nose is calm. Little hint of chocolate.

    Taste is claimed as:

    Screenshot_20190712-225357.jpg

    Caught my attention!

    Taste to me...

Leather and tobacco. Real strong. I don't have a trained palate. But I'm hoping sitting a couple weeks opens it up. $70 for a boot flask (375 ml). Hard pass...
