I drink regular Ancient Age almost every day. That and Benchmark are my daily drinkers. Never had the 10yr. I read that the AA 10yr has been discontinued.

Gone! I figured... I don't know how people get alerted of the bottles though. Must just become friends with employees? Only reason I knew they had it was after asking what batches of Booker's they had.

Guess I need to be more aware of rarity and value next time

I have a chance to get a couple bottles of the 10 year. I think I’ll cave and give it a try.

Correct. The 10 year has been discontinued. @Jmad1997 , I'm guessing the stuff you can find is the Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star, which is aged just 3 years (36 months stated on the neck). That stuff is plenty good for the price. Same mashbill as Blanton's and you can tell the flavor profile is cut from the same cloth, if not a bit rough around the edges by comparison. I've had a few handles of that stuff. If it weren't for Evan Williams BiB taking over my preferred 'cheapie' poison of choice, I'd still have some on the shelf.

Your 100% right. It’s 10 star not 10 year. I can get two 1L bottles for $80 worth it at that price point?

Man, that seems high. 1.75L bottles are about $20 here. I suppose I could be convinced to go up to $25 for it, but it's beauty is in the value.

    Road trip to DFW!

I’ll pass at the $80 then lol. I go out enough in whiskey hunts to find it cheaper at a liquor store. I’ll use that $25 for some old grand dad 114. Have you seen any weller full proof or EHT grain of the gods in your area yet? Only full proof I have seen went for $460:eek:

Not a huge whiskey guy but discovered this 15 year Jameson at my grandmothers house, I believe it was bottled in the early 70's.

Haven't seen the full proof or the EHT Amaranth. Really want to try it but guessing that won't happen. Super limited and I don't have that type of connection.

No Full Proof or EHT Amaranth in these parts, either. Full Proof is trading for $450+. Crazy. The W12 market is softening a bit. I'm afraid the last big dump of W12 was purging the screw top inventory. I know corked OWAs have started showing up, so I imagine the WSR and W12s aren't far behind. If that supply goes back to the slow drip it's always been, then don't expect that to become any easier to find. Oh well. The more money in the market that goes to Weller, the more Booker's that's available for me :D.

What a cool bottle! I don't know much about dusty Jamesons, but that's a neat thing to have.

I think you have to know someone who knows someone to snag one of these. Or they will be for absurd prices...

Is the full proof out finally? I haven't seen much mention on secondary, but I have also dropped off that shit show of a market recently with all the chaos.

Yep. It's out there. I've seen a few barrel selection picks pop up at least. I'm not sure if the run-of-the-mill (i.e. non-store picks) have hit any shelves, though.

Hopefully my one connection comes through. Seems like he really only buys for his collection. But if he does put out some specialty bottles he will sell at MSRP which is nice.

a few years ago i found an unopened bottle of Wild Turkey in my mom's house from the early 70's. cork still intact, yet about 1/4 of the bottle evaporated. weird, it was 3/4 full with a sealed cork.

needless to say that shit was strong. gave it to my FIL, a WT guy. he didn't like it. at least he was honest.

Some fairly recent pickups. One of the W12s went to a buddy at cost who has never had it. Might see if the other can get me another Booker's.

    20190813_203312-01.jpg

Speaking of Booker's, of that lineup, the Booker's is my favorite pickup.

    20190813_203335-01.jpg

Toogie's Invitation is a Roundtable Selection - the first of 2016. Scored it for $100.

I've had it before, but it's been 3 years. Looking forward to revisiting.
