First time trying Wathen's BP on ice... and it was a mistake. This barrel selection (neat) is like licking bourbon soaked barrel staves, which isn't bad IMO, and I dig the "over aged" funk characteristic that this unique bottle brings. On ice the barrel completely takes over and there's virtually no grain influence, or even barrel char influence. It's straight wood - almost like it's not even American White Oak, but something much more vegital and earthy. May as well be vodka poured over a 2×4... :( but hey that's how to learn what works and doesn't work in your glass. Have y'all ever come across a whiskey that was totally ruined or totally redeemed by adding ice or water?

Sure just let me know, I’m right in Upton. Had Antique at Fireflys last weekend for my b-day and it was great.

I’ve seen blantons at multiple places. Wegmans in Northborough has it pretty regularly. Just have to look in the locked case. The place in Grafton on 122a next to collettes has a ton of bookers, EHTaylor, and weller pretty regularly.

Good to know. I don't usually make my way over that area to buy bourbon's. My go to is total wine in natick since it's it's 3 minutes from my work.
I'll grab you a Weller's tomorrow and we can meet up at some point.

Sounds great! Thanks. Not a big deal if you can’t. Julio’s has been a good go-to over the years. Usually slightly more expensive than others but their selection is unreal. I’ve had good luck with different bourbons at (macy’s) Friendly liquors in Northbridge at Plummer’s corner as well.

    Tonight's a Beer-bon kind of night, lol.

I'm canning, so it's hot in the kitchen and beer holds up better against that than liquor.

Wife bought me a bottle of that for Father's Day a few years ago. You are right is is damn good.

@trekker I saw a few pages back you like the Ardbeg Uigeadail. I'm a huge Ardbeg fan. You should try the Corryvreckan. I bought a bottle for vacation and it is delicious. May be my favorite Ardbeg. I found the Uigeadail to be a bit thin, but the Corry is the complete opposite: intense, heavy, and 57.1% alcohol. Definitely needs a splash of water to open it up, but it is still really good neat. It's only about $10 more at my local Total Wine but it's totally worth it, imo.

Nice! How bad was the line? My wife’s best friend was there with her husband.

Line was actually pretty long. I got there at 1:45 and it was probably 75 people deep

I also like the Corry more! I'm a sucker for the higher proof. I wish Ardbeg would put out a cask strength version of their current 10 year standard bottle.
