Picked this up at TW last week in FL. First time trying it, not bad. Easy to drink at least

Went to a restaurant with a pretty decent selection and what seemed like odd prices...

Elmer T. Lee 9.50 for 2.5 Oz? Boss hog 48/2.5? GTS?!

At 2.5oz, there are 10 pours in a 750.. That's under retail for boss hog and seems super cheap for ETL and GTS. Am I wrong? I didn't have any because the list came with dessert, but might go back sometime in the future..

Those are mostly really good prices. That Boss Hog is right at retail at that price.

I'd probably drink ETL all night. It's a very good $40-50 bourbon. That's a fair price for 2.5 oz.

I'd be curious to see the actual bottles. There is no 10 year old "Pappy" Van Winkle, but I get that it isn't uncommon for places to refer to Old Rip that way. What I'm curious about is how they came to call their Booker's an 8 year. Other than some late 90s and early 00s batches, there aren't any that are 8 years. Hell, they haven't been over 7 years since 2015. Is it possible they actually have an old batch? Otherwise, why write 8 years? Next time you're in, see if you can check out the bottle!

had almost the same experience last night. Elmer for $12 and rip 10 for $100

couldn’t figure out the method behind their pricing, regardless I drank Elmer at that price

That's basically breaking even, at retail. Bars generally buy in bulk and they don't pay retail; they would typically buy from the same supplier that the stores do. I'm pretty sure that in most states it's illegal for a bar to use alcohol purchased from a store (Here in Maine you'll occasionally see a bar in the news for buying booze in tax-free NH rather than from the local supplier)

really disliked Shiny Barrel (02) on first taste. Nothing but peanuts from nose to finish. Last night, a week after opening, I decided to give it one last chance before giving to a friend who liked it. It's much better after exposure to air. I still taste the peanuts, but not as intense. Now I get caramel and some other sweetness and the finish is smoother. It's not my favorite, but is now a keeper.

I posted back around when this batch came out that it was a batch that reminded me of the stuff from 2015. The Booker's profile used to consistently have that peanut brittle/funk - it's what got me hooked back in the day. It is still a little present, but there is a lot of dried fruit sweetness that has crept in over the last couple of years in many batches. 2018-01 has a bit of that, but did it really well - one of my favorite batches. Shiny Barrel has that real oak, charred, peanut body, along with a fair bit of pepper that immediately caught my attention. For my tastebuds, it's great. I know bourbon is sweet in general, but I prefer the less sweet of them. Glad it mellowed enough to stick in your rotation!

Anyone had a chance to try this one yet? Picked it up in KY when I was back there over the holidays. Was running between $60-$70 per bottle and some stores were only limiting it to one per person per day.20200202_151005.jpg

Same! I'll Be checking out these commercials though

I should have known you'd have a Booker's in your glass. I really liked Kitchen Table! Sucked that my bottle had to have had an extra hole in it somewhere because it disappeared awfully fast.

    You know it!

I'm on Knob Creek now, but I really enjoy the Kitchen Table. I have a backup in the bunker ;).

What Stagg Jr batch is that?

Batch 11, and it's fantastic IMO. I'm working through some other open bottles before I crack a 10 and 12 to compare. I need more whiskey buddies out here to help with that task.

I'm on 1792 FP now, always a solid pour.

Rowan’s creek, Breckinridge, TX, crown royal reserve are my favorites. But my daily is Canadian club 12 year. It is surprisingly smooth and about $22 for a fifth — can’t go wrong.

Polished off the Blanton's and the OBSV Four Roses... on to Michters sour mash and Henry McKenna. Started with Michters- pretty darn good.

Sorry for the delay in getting the message to you @Captdan762 and @stbear, you should have them now though.

You all can still order we are about 6 short of the 24 minimum right now and 7 short of everyone getting the lower pricing. Order up we have about 3-4 dozen glasses on order that should be here this week.

No, I found it in Southern California a few months ago. I haven't seen one (anywhere) since. Now that I know I like it I'd definitely grab more. Michters, all flavors, seems to have become very popular. I find empty space on the shelves for even where the non-limited release versions are stocked.
