    Ok... what’s the verdict?

Bought this one on the way home after trying it at the restaurant. But.... it was after a good bottle of Cab, so the ol’ taste buddies were already primed.

Saw this Old Forester 90 proof single barrel store selection & figured WTF why not try one? Cashier goes to ring it up & it won't scan. She tells me "I need to go print a UPC from the service desk to scan, be right back". She comes back & holds up a printed paper, tells me "I don't know what the label on the shelf said but this here is what you're paying for it today". I saw $22.99 & nodded my head, told her "yes ma'am that's exactly what the tag said, lemme run back to grab a 2nd bottle & double check that price for you". Wouldn't you know that the shelf price was wrong & her manual override was the correct one??

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    I finally opened Eagle Rare.
    Pretty good. May need more.

My first review of a bourbon here. I saw this bourbon and liked the name. Yes, I know, a silly reason to by a bourbon but here I am lol.

I pulled the Foot Long Cock out of the cabinet and gazed at it for a moment. It had a nice shape to it, it felt surprisingly good in the hand. I opened the bottle and let it breath for a moment as I got my glass. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was a bit nervous so I tossed half a cube of ice in my glass. I poured a healthy pour and let it rest for a few.

I procrastinated long enough, it’s time for the Cock to meet the lips!! I took a pull. Interesting. I expected it to fill my mouth to capacity with flavor. The nose: apples, wood?. Taste: spoiled apples, oak, spice. Finish: a soft burn, with a strange sweet finish. Over all, not bad, but not great. Just meh.

I’ll keep it in the cabinet and ask all of my buddies wives if they want a pull of some One Foot Cock.

I had 2 pours of blantons today, and 2 of eagle rare. Honestly I think the eagle rare is better. Cheaper, smoother, and has more flavor. Blantons is great don’t get me wrong, but eagle rare is super under rated.

I was disappointed by the Blaton's actually... But we all have our different tastes. I'm lucky enough to have a great friend who helped me obtain it to allow me to taste it and add the bottle to my shelf. It's not horrible by any means.. but combined with the fact that it's hard AF to get and the prices some people are asking.. it's not even on my top 10 list anymore.

I'm not a fan of Eagle Rare, though I haven't had it in quite a while.

I completely agree, I’ve had them back to back and especially for the money I’m going with eagle rare. I’m up to 4 bottles in stock at the moment just in case they dry up in my area again. But I still want a f*cking bottle of Blantons on the bar, but only for retailish pricing lol

Ssshhhhhhhh. We can't let anyone at any of those guys from whiskey advocate or anywhere like that hear this or they will go and rate it a number 1 and it will end up doubling in price everywhere like McKenna or Dickel.

I am a big fan of the Eagle Rare, I was fortunate enough to try some Blanton's when the AirBnB I was staying in over New Years had half a bottle in the cupboard. It was good but nothing I would pay the $110 that most places I have seen are asking.

And on that note I will go back to drinking some of my $75 bottle of Dickel

I mean I buy every bottle of blantons I can for 50-70 bucks and normally double it when i sell if for weller or other bottles I want. For 35 bucks though eagle rare is an absolute steal. It’s slowly becoming my #1 go to daily.
