The beauty of Compass Box is that it is still relatively unknown to the public at large (maybe I should shut up about it ). The frustrating part is that finding info on it can be a bit of a challenge. I want to know where and when to get this stuff! The description of the experiment sounds great. Talisker and Ardbeg among the single malts included and aged in different second-fill barrels that have extra toasted French Oak heads? I'm in.

Headed to my local shop here soon. I'll ask him if he has any awareness of it. I talked him in to carrying Compass Box in the first place and he does pretty well with it selling to the cult followers. I told him to start with Great Kings St. and Oak Cross. He went all in with Juveniles, Phenomenology, No Name, etc.

Agree about it being relatively unknown and not wanting to draw to much attention for fear of it becoming the next Thing. There are a lot of enthusiasts out there but it's not to crazy. Yet.

I did a search of on-line mail order liquor stores but haven't found a bottle in stock yet... may be a unicorn.

 

I saw those places, too. Can't ship to TX anyways, so it's a non-starter for me.

I just got back from my local spot. I asked him about the bottle and he immediately texted his "guy" at Compass Box (dude has helped get other Compass Box in his distribution channel) about it. Thus far, the guy wasn't aware of any he could get his hands on and sent through his channel, but he's checking on it and will keep me posted. Almost left him a $100 bill for my deposit . Fingers crossed!

Didn't walk away empty handed, though. Westland Sherry Wood is a pickup for @Bigdaddy4760 . The Bulleit will probably go to a buddy that has been looking for that rye. The Early Times is for me - I'm not much of a FOMO guy, but he had a bottle at $22, so I figured I'd give it a whirl and see what the fuss is about. A bottle of wine for the wife, of course .

 

I just replenished my Glendronach 15 and Willet 4 rye. I'm looking to pick up some ODG 114 locally so I can try blending a poor mans 4 Grain...

 

Mail day. Some of these goodies are staying with me, but I'm afraid some already have loving homes lined up for them...

 

such crap that we can't get alkyhol shipped to homes in Texas. Stupid distributors have a monopoly.

 

Could be worse. In Pennsylvania the state has the monopoly.

I live in Texas, and buying/shipping from overseas used to be worth it. Especially for Scotch! The tariffs and covid shipping surcharges put and end to that, though.

 

My buddy I work with gave this to me today, his daughter is dating a guy that works at Westland

 

They make great stuff. See if he can get you the inside track for their Peat Week and Garryana releases. Once a year and they are FANTASTIC.

Very nice! I have the 2018. The 2017 was excellent, but alas I only got a sample and not a full bottle.
