I stumbled upon a bottle of Full Proof at a liquor store in La Jolla CA. It had just recently been released and was just casually sitting on the counter by the register, not really displayed just like sitting there, I don't think the label was even facing out. I was hoping somehow they didn't know what they had and asked the owner "how much?" while trying to contain my excitement. He smiled and said "$500" I smiled back and said "hmm, no thanks" Haha! That's the only time I've ever seen it at a liquor store. I've seen a range on the 12 yr but I wouldn't spend too much on it. The mark up on whiskey has gotten out of control, especially the Buff Trace stuff. If you're patient and luck is on your side you can still find bottles at retail or just a slight markup. That being said I've definitely paid more than I should have for a bottle just cause I wanted it.

If I can get it for $89 + tax would you like a bottle? I think we had shipping from me to you around $20-$25...

That's a fucking PHENOMENAL price. I'm going to buy two and expecting $129-149 a piece. If you can get more, I'll send you money and samples. What a smoking deal!

Take a peek back to when some of your good booze was made.

65 octane white unleaded. Hillbilly Booze!. Might have to play with the timing a bit.

That new Rebel Yell label really churches it up.

Sure does. It's better than I expected, too.

What’s everyone’s favorite bourbon under $100-ish?? I normally don’t get anything over a hundo unless the wife grabs something for bday/Father’s Day type stuff. Lots of knowledge in here! Gotta love TW!

    Here’s my stash:

Can't go wrong with one of the Four Roses variations. OBSV is pretty available and good. I'm finishing off a bottle of Michter's straight bourbon and it is very good. Just the color alone - beautiful dark brassy. Splash of water and yum. Lots of others that are great for under $100 and I'm sure others will chime in.

My favorite Bourbon under a Benji is ECBP. 3 unique batches ever year, can proof it down if you want and it still holds up, and is reasonably available compared to other allocated barrel proof bottles. A few years ago I'd say Booker's would be tied for my favorite, but the price increases aren't reflecting a quality increase.

Booker's is my favorite. Old Forester 1920 is a great sub-$60 bourbon. The ECBP and 4 Roses recommendations are great, too.

I haven't opened Granny's Batch, yet (at this point, might just wait until Booker's night), but from the notes I've heard, it sounds like a great on-brand Booker's batch.

The price increase is just now starting to creep in for me. 2019-04 I was still able to get for under $70 (before tax). I forget what I paid for 2020-01. Just procured a 2020-02 as well, but it was $90 (after tax). That I'm not too enthused about, but the stuff still flies off the shelf at those prices, so I don't see them coming down anytime soon, unfortunately.

I look forward to trying the 2020 batches, but I'm going to have to sample it before I fork over that kind of coin for a bottle that let me down too many times in 2019. I miss Kathleen's Batch and Kitchen Table :(

Which reminds me... one of these days I need to pop a couple of old batches I've procured... and get you that Noe Secret!

    He and @DC 17_3

I'm a big fan of their single barrel barrel proof... I don't care what you call it, it's delicious! I forgot to add that to the rankings of best bourbon under a hundo.

That's right! I was thinking @DC 17_3 as well but didn't tag him.
