Sorry, let's clarify. True bourbon is made in Kentucky from Kentucky water sources, bourbon can be made anywhere but it is not a true bourbon. Thus you only have Kentucky bourbon or just bourbon. Similar to Champagne, you can make it anywhere, but unless it is produced in the Champagne region it is sparkling wine, the difference is champagne protected its naming rights.

If you like Basil, i would also highly recommend Blanton's. In my opinion a little smoother.

I like Russell's Reserve Rye, but the Bulliet Rye is very good too.

My sister just sent me a bottle of the Templeton, which is good, but less sweet & a little more harsh than Russell's or Bulliet.

    Neat, of course.

Oh yeah, Blanton's is good. It is actually from the Buffalo Trace Distillery too. So is Rare Eagle, which has come up a couple of times in the thread.

You just made up "true" Bourbon, there is no legal definition for that, but I get the idea.

    Here is a good explanation.

    http://www.straightbourbon.com/articles/ccname.html

At one point in the 1780s an area of a larger Virginia was named Bourbon County and later that became part of Kentucky. This Bourbon County region was broke up into dozens of counties. Not all of Kentucky was within the original Bourbon County so if there is a "true" Bourbon it would have to be from only that "Old Bourbon County" not simply Kentucky.

Back on topic, here's the best Bourbon I've ever had. I scored 2 bottles at least 8 years ago when the price was about $70, but as limited supplies dwindle I've seen $500 since then!

went looking for another local bourbon, but it was all sold out. I'll have to look for it in February when it's back in stock. It's out of le claire iowa called cody road bourbon.

True, but my guess is it's just a tiny fraction and a marketing gimmick to try to sell a Premium Southern Comfort.

I'm not trying to be a snob, just stating the fact that Southern Comfort is a syrupy sweet liqueur in all it's forms, and not considered whiskey.

My favorite Liqueur is well know in Wisconsin and Minnesota and sells as a Jager alternative. Sure it says brandy but it's a syrupy liqueur.

Pronounced Yedja-noovka, lot's of people call it Chevy Nova, or just Polish. Traditionally served from the freeze as shots whenever Green Bay scores.

I'm headed to the freezer now.
