    Traveled to meet some friends today. Picked up a store pick full proof which I am super excited about since I LOVE 1792 full proof, and because of the latest buzz about cask strength makers on here I figured I had better buy a bottle since there was just one in stock. Pretty happy with these for not actually bottle hunting.

    If you can find it 100% buy it. I’ve only ever seen 1 bottle at retail ($50) and I bought it. They’re super hard to find, the sweet wheat I mean. I really enjoy most everything 1792 makes.

    While we’re talking bourbon…

    I found I had a few pours left of Knob Creek 9, it’s one of my favorite mid-price bourbons and I hadn’t had it in years. It disappeared when my wife rearranged the liquor cabinet and I just found it.

    When I last had it, it was flavorful and a tad sweet with some black cherry notes. Now it tastes just ok. The only change in between is that I’ve had COVID twice.

    There are certain smells that smell entirely different to me now, and certain foods that taste different. I’m wondering if this has had a long-term impact on my taste for bourbon.

    Anyone else?

    I haven’t had Covid, that I know of anyway, but if the bourbon was open a few years that can certainly change it, especially if the bottle was on the low side when left. Other than that I found my pallet has changed over the years, but also it can depend on what I eat or drink before hand, or what smells are in my house. Lots of things seems to give me different notes depending. Certainly Covid could effect your taste though. That wouldn’t surprise me.

    Widow Jane is good. My wife surprised me with that bottle. I like it a lot.
