It was in SM, it all went quick. I got lucky with the EHT, the last one was sitting on the check out counter.

I don’t particularly care for the new system either. Notifications seem to come out in the evenings too.

First time seeing this wheated version in the store, only $40. Also picked up an Eagle Rare. Anyone ever tried the Woodford wheated?

It’s pretty garbage. If you aren’t less than 10 min from a store, you probably aren’t getting anything decent. Not to mention everyone scrambling to get there and driving like jerks and causing accidents, double parking etc etc.

ABC systems are laughable from the get go, top to bottom. Stupid system, always has been.

I too, saw the Woodford wheated and wondered the same. I passed on it. Try it and let us know.

Instead picked up the last bottle of Eagle Rare. Saw a bunch of other allocated bottles on the counter but didn't recognize any of them and passed them over as well.

I had a bottle and didn’t care for it actually. My buddy who tried it with me really enjoyed it so he took it home with him. I never went back and revisited it so maybe I was having a bad day or something who knows.

Damn, I'll have to check every now and then. Never found EH Taylor for a decent price around here

Tastes are different. I have a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof missing one pour because I thought it was awful.

It was nice walking out of there with both bottles for a reasonable price. If you want, shoot me a PM and we'll work something out for an EHT. I have 3 of them, so willing to help a fellow whiskey enthusiast out.

The neck pour is pretty thin, flavor not very strong. Hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Not the best, not the worst, forgettable.

Edit: ice really opened it up. A lot more flavor at the bottom of the glass, enjoyable.

And old Mario still claims to have info for sale lmao.

New system is trash for enthusiasts. They just moved the danger from a fight in a line to car accidents in the lot or on the way there and reduced the quantity of bottles you can get.

I find it baffling that the States (that I know of) who allow the government to control their liquor sales are, more or less, the ones that are very vocal about not letting government tell them what to do. Sounds like a political statement but I don't mean it to be. In general, I find this system odd and wonder how and why it is in place? I never even realized this was a thing until I went to Ohio for work.

There is a difference between states like Ohio that control distribution, and states like North Carolina, where the state owns all the liquor stores.

It’s impossible to argue one thing though, both types of state-controlled systems lead to lower prices, particularly for hard to find high demand items, and at the same time lead to less selection and variety.

In North Carolina I can find Blanton’s maybe once or twice a year for $55 if I work at it. In Nevada I can buy it at a gas station any day of the week, but for $110-$180.

True. When in Ohio I found the "liquor store" was in the grocery store, but separate. I talked to the cashier and got the 411 on it all. He was nice and told me they were getting a shipment from the central warehouse the next morning and they were going to get Weller 12 and others. Only problem is is they opened at 9am and I had a business meeting at 9. I went over there at lunch and they had 1 bottle of Weller left - an SR, and it was the big fat one (1.75). Not what I was looking for, but for $45 I snapped it up, along with some other bottles.

Later on I checked the receipt and found he didn't charge me for the WSR. I felt bad and didn't want to get him in trouble, so I went back to pay. He wasn't there so I let the person who was know and I paid. I wish I hadn't. I got the impression the guy would get some heat for it... Anyway, I still have that big bottle, unopened. One of these days...
