    Johnnie Green again.

No offense to the bourbon only guys, but if you want to explore why some people consider scotch the superior whiskey (or 'whisky'), this is a good place to start figuring out how that could happen.

I love both myself, for different reasons. Nothing is as smooth as good scotch, and nothing has flavor like good bourbon.

Monkey Shoulder or Glenlivet 12 would be where I'd point you.

Johnnie Green is fantastic but clocks in at 70-80 a bottle, so I can understand not wanting to jump in the pool at that price level.

I started on Dewars, then to Isle De Jura. Neither was impressive to me. Once I tried Glenlivet 12 I was hooked. Former company treated me to Glenlivet 21 year and I realized just how amazing true Scotch can be.

I’ll have to look for Glenlivet 12 at the bar and try it out.

Lazy on pictures again tonight, but sweet tooth is active.

Four Roses SiB for first pour. Larceny for second.

Was at the corporate office and my boss invited me over to sample some bourbons after work. Ranked in order of preference from low to high

Burlock and Barrel - Local from Jacksonville, FL

Luca Mariano Single Barrel - Sweet

Barrel Bourbon, Cask Strength - Good

Daviess County Double Barrel LTD Edition - I’ve seen the red, white and blue labeled ones but never this limited black label. Very, very good pour.

Kentucky Owl St. Patrick’s Edition LTD Release - Phenomenal and I’ve been wanting to try it but could never find it.

Very Old St. Nick’s Harvest Rye Cask Strength - Also phenomenal but at $180 a little expensive.

I hit Total Wine on the way back to the hotel, low and behold they had one bottle of the Kentucky Owl. My lucky day! Picked up some of that really good Daviess County too.

image.jpg Two on the left I got from Total Wine for I believe msrp, two on the right a buddy brought back from Tennessee for me. Not pictured is a Laphroaig Quarter Cask I got for 50 from Total Wine, which I absolutely love! The cask strength is still my favorite Laphroaig I’ve had, but the quarter cask is a close second

Thanks to @Hook78 for snagging me some goodies back. I am *not* going to try them tonight, because I need to stare at them for a few months before I'll be ready to open one.

For bourbon my favorite so far is Evan Williams Single Barrel. Eagle Rare is close but the one time I found it was for $50. EWSB can be found easily and it's $30. Also enjoyed everything I've tried from Balcones as well.

For scotch, pretty much anything by Ardbeg!

The Larceny BP is hot and spicy people! I cooled it off with a big ice sphere and it was rather nice. It has a beautiful aroma that I can’t place.

What it doesn’t have is what the bullshit review I read called an “earthy flavor”. It tastes like delicious high proof bourbon.
