Tripped over a bottle of Very Old Barton yesterday. 14 bucks. Why not?

Ironic I went to HF last night and stopped at the liquor store I saw potentially had Yellow Rose. They did and got some, interested to see if I like it as much as I did years ago.

Saw they had a ton of Nikka Coffey Malt for $69.99 and the Grain for $79.99, wasn't sure if it was worth checking out for the price? Seen Nikka posted here a few times.

lol. I see you also check out the HF thread! No HF on that outing...

I like the malt, but there are other things around that price point I like more. I don't regret buying it, but I always recommend trying something in a bar first, when possible, before spending that much.

I bought some of that VOB 86 while I was picking up some Hatozaki SB a couple of weeks back. Wasn't overly impressed with the 86. Neck pour was harsh. Let it sit a couple of days and the subsequent pours seem to have sweetened a bit. Not too bad for $14.

Never had it, but the reputation is "excellent for $14" so I was curious. Expectations must be situationally appropriate :D

So with Prime Day goin on I thinks to myself, "Myself, maybe you can get a good deal on some 8 or 10oz decanters for when bottles get below halfway to minimize headspace and oxidation."

Nope. Not on Amazon. Everythings 24oz or larger and the few small options I found didn't have airtight seals on the stopper.

Guess we're stayin with the bottles.

Nothing you could remove the rubber seal on the stopper?

Oh I want an airtight seal. That was the problem. They were all glass on glass in the 8-10oz range.

it’s funny, I LOVED this one 2-3 years ago. It’s interesting to see that my tastes have matured since then.

Cabinets getting a little too full and they’re overflowing to the top, figured I’d better start finishing some bottles to make space. Number one down. I’ve really grown to like this one since my first few pours. Glad I bought two bottles when I first got it.
