Favorite Whiskey?

Very interesting. I didn’t see any of those on my lunch break bottle hunt of 4 Cabarrus County ABC stores. Maybe next Thursday.

 

At lunch today with the infamous @jandrews: we walk in and see the following on the bar’s top shelf:
-Stagg Jr.
-Blantons x2
-Taylor Small Batch
-Taylor Single Barrel

I got VERY excited to have a private Buffalo Trace Distillery tasting.

We asked about prices…Blantons was $21, ok fine.

The Taylor, however, was $50 for the Single Barrel and $45 for the Small Batch. Dreams crushed.

I did get in on the Knob “14 year” action afterwards though. Also picked up an Eagle Rare and another Wild Turkey Masters Keep One. I hope they sell out again so I can stop buying it.

 

That’s insane prices on the eh Taylor.

 

Place has great selection but yeah. $50 gets you a handle of stuff every bit as good as Taylor from many other brands. I can't imagine paying that for a pour of anything except maybe BTAC, Pappy, or perhaps Hirsch 16.

I chased EHT SR for a while and when I finally got some I was very dissapointed.

 

The post I was responding to is gone, but the rye I was talking about is Sazerac…didn’t even know there was a Taylor rye.

 

Was in NYC yesterday for work, so popped in to a liquor store near my hotel just for shits. Prices were as you can imagine, laughable.

 

One of biggest absurdities there is the Very Old Barton…that’s a $15 bottle here.

 

$100 Eagle Rare?

What in the cinnamon toast fuck? Are they kidding?

 

I have noticed that Eagle Rare has gone up over the last few years in the ABCs. It used to be $25. The other day it was $40. Still below $30 on base.

 

Yeah..... $30 for me (when I can find it). You don't even want to know what they were asking for Blanton's or E.H. Taylor.

They did have a 1.75L of Eagle Rare behind the counter. I'd never seen it in that size.

 

ER 39 here. Very hard to find, but I have lucked in to two bottles of it the past few months.

BT products have been weirdly more available here recently. Word is our new ABC commissioner is working some things out.

 

Man Knob Creek 12 is so good…
