I have family headed to Tennessee this coming week. Any suggestions on what to have them look for that is only available in Tennessee and not available in Maryland. Under $80

Same. In lockup for about 400.

But I'm not an Orphan Barrel fan, so they stay put.

I could’ve sworn one of the Jacksonville stores had an Orphan Barrel for around $250 a few weeks ago but I wasn’t looking very closely

I think they have Foragers Keep for 300, but I can't imagine why you'd pay 300 for mystery scotch from Orphan Barrel when you can pay the same for Macallan 18 or Dalmore 18 or Glenfiddich 21 and know you're getting top end Scotland juice.

Went back to the ABC store that was getting a truck today at lunch. The only new bourbon they had were four bottles of Kentucky Owl Confiscated at $134 a piece.

Those were my top two choices, HH17 #1 and Weller FP #2. I never "No Thanks" an option, and I put that $1300 Michter's at the bottom. Now I'm second guessing...what happens if I get drawn and the only option left is that Michter's? What does one do with a $1300 bottle of whiskey?? Maybe sell it for $8K and buy 400 bottles of WT101??

    I endorse this plan completely.

You could also do ~150ish bottles of Rare Breed if you prefer hi-test stuff.

Sell it for $8k and then whatever you do with your $8k, it was totally worth it.

Speaking of, never seen the st. Patrick’s locally.

I treated myself to a Nikka whisky from the barrel for $72 which seemed like fair pricing according to the booze app.

I just don't know how one goes about selling these bottles for secondary prices. My guess is probably FB groups or something?? I don't have FB, so I wouldn't know about that. Is that how most folks do it?? I certainly don't know anyone that will pay several thousand dollars for a bottle of liquor.

If it's in the hundreds private party sales are pretty simple.

For thousands, I would probably consign it with a specialty shop that has a client base buying/selling in that range. They will cost some of your margin but keep the legalities kosher.

Just because it's hard to find buyers in that price range, and its hard to make the exchange happen in a secure fashion for both parties. Do you really want to hire an escrow company for an illegal liquor sale?

There are rare liquor brokers you can look up online, or you can try the FB group route. FB does not allow posts to sell liquor, so I assume in the groups people post things and then do their business in PMs.

Hmm, I wonder if there are any shops around here that will consign it. I'll have to check into that.
    Thanks, yall.

I know the Orphan Barrels get mixed reviews but I just couldn’t get enough of this one. Polished off tonight and I’m so glad I have a second waiting in the wings. I LOVE this bottle.

I'll try Canes when they open. I don't remember it when I had it years ago, so no expectations of it being awesome. I did stop by Dave's Hot Chicken today. Meh. Had Medium hot and there was zero heat. But that's ok, because I could level up to get the heat, but the breading was ho-hum and adding heat won't help that. Plus it was expensive- 2 large strips with 2 pieces of white bread, fries and pickle discs. Extra for a drink and the total with taxes was close to $20. So likely won't go back.
