Understandable. Bourbon is more punch-you-in-the-mouth while Scotch is more subtle and nuanced. I like both and started with bourbon, but found scotch better suits me right now. It will probably change at some point.

Wife threw me a surprise bday party today for my 35th. Some friends asked if I had any bourbon and I told them I sold the collection. We start rooting around in my shop shooting bows and bullshitting and I found a bunch of boxes of wine, whiskey, etc. Found 2 boxes of bourbon that got miss placed during the move and remodel. They were thrilled.

Couldn’t bring myself to even have any. Had a few yuengling and told my buddies to crack em and let em take em home. They were happy to say the least. Just the smell turned my stomach, maybe someday I can have some again but it won’t be for a long time.

Yet another bottle of John J. down, luckily I have one more waiting. Still trying to clear out the open bottles.

Unpopular opinion….I can’t stand this bottle. Penelope toasted, keep trying it every couple weeks, I keep getting this artificial bacon bits thing…bleh

I appreciate that feedback. I was close to buying a bottle a few days ago but went home to do some research first. Sounds like I’ll pass on it.

Or, hard to find in our neck of the woods anyway. Blantons is fine at 60 but dont you dare pay more cause it aint worth it.

    We are in New Hampshire.

My wife and I found a 1970 bottle of Crown Royal in my father in law's house while cleaning it out after his passing. I'm not much of a Canadian whisky fan, but with 50 years of age on it, it was quite delicious.

I’m sure it was good, but whisky doesn’t technically “age” once it’s bottled. It just gets old.

Continuing trying to rid myself of too many open bottles, I’m re-visiting Rebel 10. I can’t recommend it enough if you like wheaters. If you see one grab it, though I’ve found them to be quite rare as of late.
