Turns out Im a fat liar. In a YEAR this thing went from $50 to $100.

But: It does appear on the shelf. There were 4. Two of them left with me (before the price goes up again, lol).

Lol. I know there was a tariff on a lot of things by the previous administration, with Scotch being one of them. Caused the prices to jump. I never heard if those tariffs were repealed with the current admin, but I am seeing prices normalizing, i.e. Oban 14 can be had for $62 again. I think Springbank jumped because of increased popularity and it's a relatively small distillery, so not a lot of volume. Suppy and demand. Damn bourbon drinkers need to stay away!

Yeah the tariff was suspended with a 5 year agreement not to reintroduce. It was only 25%, but maybe that reduced supply enough via reduced exports to more drastically impact the price overall.

 

Knocking out another bottle. Won’t get this one again, but a monster old fashioned to send it off lol

Tonight the wife asked me to pour her a bourbon. I chose a Russell’s SB for her and I had the Rare Breed. She tasted mine and said, they’re both really good, but mine has a little more flavor. I’m in love, I think I’m gonna keep her.

 

Has anyone ever tried "monkey shoulder"? A friend found it on vacation in Aruba. I found it for $29 online.. supposedly very good.

Another non-US product is the 13 year Father and Son…I’m sure you can get any of these from an online retailer, just like you can buy the Blanton’s that made for the Japanese market.

 

Ive seen the 13 year Father and Son but no luck on the Rare Breed NCF. If you find it let me know.
