I decided I have too many bottles open so I've been working on finishing them before opening any new ones. Polished off the last of the Glenmorangie Lasanta, Glenlivet 18 and Hibiki over the last few weeks.

I have a bottle of Willett Pot Still I didn't like when I opened it, it had a dill taste that was just not right. It's been open for months, I figured it's had a chance to "aerate" and maybe change, so I figured I'd finish it as well. Nasty stuff. It lost it's dill flavor but now it's got a prominent ethyl alcohol smell and taste. It's going to the back row and will be used when guest want to put sugar in it to make some kind of cocktail.

I figured I'd suffered through a few nights trying to empty that bottle, so to make up for it I decided to open a bottle I got for my birthday a few months ago; Oban 14. Wow, this is some very good Scotch! Really very good.

I'll have to pick up a bottle next time in Delaware. Costco can't sell alcohol in PA.

Very good, I like it a lot. It’s got just enough of that rye “burn.” Everything I’ve tried from high West I have enjoyed so far

I'm getting ready to crack open the last bottle I got for my birthday (the Doublewood). I've been drinking down my open bottles, mostly bourbon, to make some room for new ones. After finishing off the very good Oban 14 I decided to lean more towards Scotch for awhile.

I was out looking for some replacements and decided on making Oban 14 my go-to, so I got one of those. I've been wanting to try an Islay but was not so sure of the peat. Well, I jumped into the deep, deep end and got the Lagavulin 16. It's very highly rated and is said to be a peat bomb. I'll probably open that after the DoubleWood is finished.

Lagavulin definitly has a strong smoke and peat presence, I still find it quite enjoyable however. Unlike Laphroig which no matter how much water and ice I add, I can’t choke down. It probably won’t become your daily but has its time and place for sure.

Hey boys and girls! Haven't been around in a while. Still working our way through our collection. Currently open is TX Whiskey, Revel Stoke, Bowmore 18 and Basil Hayden.

I just got word that my barrel has come of age at Makers Mark! I'll be headed there in the near future to claim my hand dipped bottles!

Any new stuff out on the market that I need to be aware of???

    Cheers y'all!

Hope y'all have fun heading down to Loretto and touring the Maker's Mark facilities . It's some beautiful country down that way. Going to hit some of the other Bourbon Trail stops while you're down that way? It would definately be worth the time and effort if you can.

Ya, alot of the gents you been chatting with in the KY thread really contributed to that report in the lead in. Great bunch of guys and they certainly enriched the time we had as you can tell (not sure if you read it all lol, I get chatty at times)

Just send me your unused Laphroaig. I'll dispose of it for you.
