I looked it up - no one in my area has any in stock. I think it might be just as rare as Pappy's. Not inexpensive either at $85...

Yeah Ive only found it twice. Total wine in Washington had some, and a place in Hawaii I know had some. never found it again and haven't been able to order it since. If you see it, buy it. (And send me a bottle, or three!)

Well, this hurricane evacuation has been of some value. I picked up two 1.75l and three .750l of Weller. That stuff is non-existent where I live. Going back home with bourbon!!

I tried Yamazaki 12 in a restaurant in Hilo on vacation. It was very good and thought I'd pick up a bottle when I got home. Turns out it's kinda hard to find!

I’m glad I got them then! It was recommended by the store owner so I decided to have a backup bottle in case I liked it.

The only ones I really didn't care for was the EH Taylor small batch and the Barrel Bourbon.

OWA is worth more blended with W12 or traded up on secondary.

The Talisker way at the end wasn't part of the tasting - just my dessert - and the Evan Williams was my all day whiskey sour mixer:D.

For new stuff, check out Sagamore Spirit.

We just had one of the employees from Sagamore Spirit in town (he's usually up in Maryland) to work an event for one of the groups I'm with. Their Sagamore Spirit Rye and Cask Strength Rye should be somewhat easy to come by. It's a standard release for them. I think their standard straight rye is much better than the cask strength, personally, and I'm a glutton for barrel proofs.

The 'new' thing from them you should look for, though, is their Double Oak and their Port Finish versions. The Double Oak is going to become a once a year thing for them, but it is fairly limited. It is one of the best ryes I've ever had. Probably just behind WhistlePig The Black Prince and then High West Midwinter Nights Dram.

The Port Finish is a one and done. They will have a new special release every year, but it won't necessarily be a port finish next time. It is really, really good, too, and worth picking up for something unique that won't be done again.

I'll try to get a pic from the event.

I also picked up a Double Oak for myself.

    Edit:

    From the private tasting:
    20180905_193138.jpg

My bottle of Double Oak along with a Fistful of Bourbon:
    20180914_141944.jpg

For what it is worth, that Fistful of Bourbon comes from the producer behind Glenfiddich and Balvenie. It is a blend of 5 straight bourbons. It's plenty good to begin with, but for $25, it is a really nice value.

Traveling through Lincoln Nebraska for work a couple days ago looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across this Yelp photo...

    679FF921-F425-47D7-BB56-33872ACBB59A.jpg

Decided I was going to drop $115 on the Pappy flight... Apparently the photo was from last September and it was all gone, as was the OF Birthday Bourbon!

I was pretty bummed, but the brewery across the street had a great bourbon German chocolate cake stout and a tasty brisket sandwich as a consolation prize!

Love me some breck distillery, has some sentimental value to me, lived there as ski bum for a while. never could afford it while I was there. Only one bar I've been to in LA has it, and last time I went they were out of it :(

I love every Breckinridge I have tried that’s one of my all time go to. I really wish I could find another PX cask limited one they did.

As a Coloradan, I think Breck is one of the few distilleries doing a good job out of this state. At least for my taste preferences.

Is it really that good? Looks like we have both available around here... may have to try one or the other.
