    Tonight’s pour (actually number two)

On a separate note I sold my truck and camper this past weekend so I guess I am not a Tacoma owner anymore.. hopefully I can stay on here for the bourbon!

The Carolina Panthers finally fired Matt Rhule tonight, so I'm cracking something I've been saving for a special occasion.

I would also give this top marks.

Taken neat with 5 drops of water. 10 minute rest. Glass of water prior to cleanse the palate.

I kentucky chew on the palate 1 second for every year of aging. I'll go longer if good things are happening. I went longer on this, probably about 10 seconds per sip. Coat all 25,000 taste buds and suck in some air to oxygenate a bit. (My wife loves making fun of me when I'm doing this stuff. Her impression is impeccable comedy.)

Nose is light cinnamon, ethanol, sugar sweetness.
Palate is caramel, brown sugar, baking spices. 125 proof heat but not astringent. Very rich, velvety mouthfeel which I am a huge fan of.
Finish is a pleasant oak all the way through - prominent and identifiable, but not excessively bitter like some. The heat lingers as a happy warmth for minutes.

The 6.5 year age statement here is proof positive that older is not always better.

You can buy A107 online for like $130, and Weller 12 for like $290. Obviously plus tax and shipping. Who in their right mind would pay those prices?

Stopped at a random Mexican restaurant on my way home from the Springs today, they had Weller 12 for $12 a pour. Hefty pours at that. Had two. F114A7AA-73AE-4B47-A2FA-48B18B6C2667.jpg

Man, that’s roughly half the price per bottle that @Asphaltcowboychip saw on the shelf. Shoulda bought it all!

Edit: I am now reading that a pour is about 1.5 ounces rather than one ounce, although around here the prices at bars are per ounce. Anyway, 1.5 ounce pours makes the math even better. Obviously.

Wow! WhistlePig and Traeger. That's interesting. WhistlePig's one of my favorites and I have a Traeger out on the back deck. I guess I'll go through a lot of WhistlePig when I smoke my next shoulder. :D

Was out in PA for a riding trip so stopped in to see if I can get in on those cheap pa prices. Nothing great but found some bowman bros to go with my John j.

Appropriate and ironic at the same time. Wood smoke, but not from a pellet. Looks like a very nice day.

Not too hard to spot the bourbon at the campsite this weekend (don’t worry, I wasn’t drinking that bottle alone lol)
