Favorite Whiskey?

Since I was able to find some John J. Bowman replacement (for less than $99) I was finally able to polish off the little bit in my one bottle I’ve been saving. I forgot how good this was.

 

Where is John J $99? Sheesh I paid $40.

 

One of stores I stopped at in Denver last week was selling it for that. Last time I found it in NC, almost two years ago, I paid $40. Found a store out there selling it for $60 so I picked up two.

 

Was chatting with an ABC store
clerk today and he was reminiscing about a bourbon he enjoyed in the 90’s, he couldn’t remember what it was called. I did some Googling based on his description of the bottle, and we figured out it was Rock Hill Farms.

Well, that got my looking into the brand, and lo and behold it’s another Buffalo Trace product, mash bill #2. Their single barrel has a ridiculous secondary price, never seen this anywhere. Anyone have any personal experience?

 

Never seen it in NC either, but have read about it as 'secret Blantons'. Most reviews I've seen state lots of similarities.

 

Makes sense, same mash bill. Apparently not a secret though given the price.

I’ve had it twice now. I was pretty toasty both times but I can’t recall anything special about it. It’s definitely a cool bottle though, and a bottle I’ll buy if I get the chance to buy it at MSRP.
I’d agree with the similar to a blantons. I don’t know what actually separates the two/makes them unique from each other

Scratch that. Went with the TX instead, so far pretty impressed.

 

Yeah that’s a cool ass bottle.

 

Honestly, I won't be surprised 5 years from now if Sazerac has a different brand for each individual bottle of liquor it sells.

I mean:
