Something is definitely up with this island family

 

Island guy just said they go and clear the fence once a week. I didn't think we were that many days into this.

 

What's the guys deal who is running the boat

 

They didn't spend much time talking about the other part of the island but I thought they had a pretty good set up there. Fenced in from walkers. Their main threat would be a boat that didn't happen to be full of nice people like our group. Why wouldn't they stay? Aside from that family obviously being nuts, but they could've avoided that ending maybe?

Looks like the Asian girl from the plane will be the new character joining from the shorts. That was kind of obvious. Wonder if they will touch on any other character's fates, like the boy who was also kind of a main character...

 

What the shit? They just motor away from the big empty house with all the food and supplies and leave without taking any of it? They've already said they don't have much food

What's going on in Mexico? It looks like they are going East side of Baja? Or was that main land?

When the grandpa didn't blow the brothers head off, it really shows how far from TWD this show really is... Lol

 

They left the island because resources were finite and there was a large population on the other side of the island that is sure to be full of walkers. Once the resources run out, they're pretty much just stranded on the island. They would need fuel for a boat to go back and forth to the mainland. The clip of the civilization shown on the other half of the island, was Avalon on Catalina Island. On the show, it was Catrina Island, so a fictional location. But if this was Catalina, that is about a 2 hour trip by boat to the mainland, with some deep and choppy waters.

One of the cool things from this episode is that we now know that the western united states is completely overrun. It was interesting to hear George talk about all the other ranger stations going silent one after another. It was a good reference point in the show to get a handle on what is going on in the rest of the country. In TWD, the gang has no idea what the rest of the world is like, they can only imagine that everything is dead. In FTWD, Kirkman and Erickson reveal some of this info for the fans. I liked that part.

I enjoyed the episode overall. George while talking about their set up being self-reliant, was slowly killing his family with pills. I don't know if he planned on killing everyone Jonestown style, or if he was intentionally killing off his wife and young children just to survive a bit longer with their resources. All I can gather from the way it ended, and the mother walking up the pier, is that George is also dead, as he was in the room with Willa, the walker daughter and his dying wife. That just leaves the two sons by themselves on the island. I wonder if the show will ever come back to this location to find out if any of them are still alive.

Who is Strand talking too on his SAT phone? Is it the girl from the plane? Is she telling him how much longer she thinks she can last until he gets there? It certainly seems like they both know a little bit of what's going on. The location in Baja Cali must be some type of stronghold that these two have built, that is assuming they are connected. Another thing we found out about Strand's character this episode is that he isn't as bad as he's been made out to be. He didn't want to let that boy on his ship as they were planning to leave, but Maddie put her foot down and he seemed to relent. However, I am glad the brother came back to get him off the ship. It would have been that much tougher for the survivors had they had another young mouth to feed, and who is a liability who most likely can't handle themselves amongst walkers.

I believe they are at least a couple weeks in. Don't know how much more I can take of skinny jean Chris, he needs to go.

 

I was hoping he was going to miss with that pick axe and cut the chain link fence and be over run with the washed up walkers...

 

Why didn't they loot the place, then?

 

I was wondering why they didn't loot all the stores & stuff. Alicia was at a souvenir shop so why not get supplies?

 

Wasn't the reason they wanted to stop was for supplies ; radios etc. If there is ever a time to loot its after your city is bombed and the dead are trying to eat you.

 

If place was empty, they probably would have looted the place. A family was living there, and these being "good people" didn't just starting putting knifes in heads and take things for their own.

The way the left the island, I can see them returning to check on the two brothers and to see about supplies again.

 

I think maybe the pills were if they were overrun, but Depp Jr. inadvertently showed the little girl where they were. Everybody is nosing around into everybody else's business.

 

They stopped to get off the radar from the boat they thought was pursuing them

 

The boy said he took his 'POWER PILLS' everyday so his family would stay together. I was thinking it was some kind of brain wash thing that the parents (mainly the dad) was doing to keep everyone in line but Nick figured it out that they were poison. Maybe in small doses it didn't kill right away and the little girl took a bunch and that is why she died. The parents obviously knew what was up and had the plan all along to go down with the ship once someone got bit since they sat there and let her bite them. The oldest son maybe was the only one who had his head on right, but maybe not...I would've tried to go on the boat with everyone else, but first taken all the supplies I could from the island...

 

Bummer when zombies can float up on the beach.

 

It looks like the water zombies are a main plot point this season. The preview shows Travis scuba diving and appears to come under distress, I would guess another water herd?

I don't understand it though. the things can barely walk, wouldn't they just sink? No way they are coordinated enough to swim and stay afloat...


I know I know...it is just TV. But for my own sake and to stop the nightmares...it can't happen...
