Fear The Walking Dead

Not so much about what I like about the show as it is what I don’t dislike. There’s a term used in theater...”willing suspension of dis-belief.” Basically means you overlook some things. I don’t let little incongruities bother me. If I like the story line, I watch the show. If I watch the show I begin to understand and empathize with the characters. If I empathize with the characters, I come back the next week to see what’s happening with them.

I like these characters. I like Morgan coming over from the other show. His internal struggle, angst, if you will, is a common vehicle in literature, movies/TV shows, and life, for that matter. Watch Game of Thrones...they’ve got angst coming out the wazoo. I like to see characters change and evolve. One of the basics of these shows is that popular characters are going to die, which is a huge change from shows I grew up with, where the main characters always survived and the people around them died.

I mean, look at the original Star Trek. They kind of paradied what happened in that show on the movie Galaxy Quest, where Sam Rockwell just knew he was going to die because he was crewman #7. The unnamed crew members were always the ones to die. They couldn’t even kill Spock off in the movie franchise. They had to bring him back in the next movie.

I like to see the change in Alycia..I like to see John fall in love with June, or whatever her name was. I like the truckers. I liked Jimbo. I really like Al and the way they use her to get to the back stories. So yeah, for now we have a happy ending, although we all know that when the show resumes, if it resumes, it won’t, and can’t be one big happy family.

What I don’t want to see is the same story repeated over and over, a la Rick. People change, so let them change and open up new and varied story lines.

 

I also enjoyed the season. It had more of an apocalypse feel again. Last season was okay, but the fight with the hippies was kind of lame overall. But, it got the story to where it is presently, which I like. Yes, there are some dumb TV stuff going on, but that's TV for ya. The ethonal tanker was supposed to be full, and a dozen bullet holes wouldn't have caused the whole tanker to leak out in minutes. That thing would go for hours and would have been more than enough time to put the bucket under one of those holes. But whatev's, it brought in Morgan with Jimbo's beer as a heroic send-off for poor Jim.

That factory with a hydro generator looks like a good place to set up shop. I am looking forward to next season to see what comes about.

I agree that the cast of characters are good too.

 

Catching up finally. Just watched the episode where Nick died. I think I had been spoiled it was coming but thought he’d make it further in the season. Only 3 episodes in. He was always my favorite on this show

 

I really lost interest after that. I liked where he was going as a character the previous season and then they just did a 180 and then killed him off.

 

Nick really was a fan favorite actually wasn't supposed to be killed off. It was a decision he made himself for the character. I guess Frank Dillane wanted to move on to other opportunities.

Having said that, I think the show progressed really well and I like the new direction that it went in with Morgan as the central protagonist.

 

I never liked Morgans character. I guess that's why I found it hard to watch after Nick was killed.

 

This show is hard to watch at this point. Madison is gone (at least that’s what my wife told me. I dosed off for a few ) now too after Nick. They basically rebooted the show with new characters and it’s at the same timeline as TWD so the whole concept of developing the early days of the virus is gone. It’s just a bad spin off a show that’s bad on its own at this point...

And what’s with Morgan trying to go BACK to Virginia. Are they just going to merge the shows together? I can’t keep up anymore

 

Remember Dwight? They announced he’s coming over to FTWD.

 

Season 4 is on Hulu now. We are catching up commercial free now. Makes it a little more tolerable...

That will be really interesting! I am glad he survived. I wonder how his frame of mind will be since the dam? A lot has changed since then, especially with Strand.

 

So the FTWD crew have run across the people that Jadis was from and take Rick 5 or 6 years in the future

 

The ones that tased Al? From the little bag she found, it looks like it's an underground installation. I like where this is going.

The clacking trees were cool. What a creepy effect. I can see that being added to haunted houses now, if not already done. I haven't been to Knott's Scary Farm in like a decade, so it may have already been a feature in one of the mazes.

As avid fans we were actually a bit happy with Fear ....

Lets see how it plays out with Morgan....and Al is a self driven moron....btw at the ending!

Ah, interesting! I saw an article a couple days ago that mentioned some type of potential crossing worlds with Rick, but I didn't read it for fear of getting a spoiler. Cool

I never put two and two together with their names. That's pretty interesting! Stannis should have cameoed on Fear, or Nick on GoT! Lol
