I mean sure, if boost is the sole reason for swapping it in. But as was just stated, the 3RZ seems able to hold it's own. Plus, it is already designed for the truck. Where the nissan would take a fair amount of fab work (time and money) to be converted from its original FWD configuration. If that is something you want to do, then great, more power to ya. That all said, the OP wanted FEASIBLE swap options. What you are suggesting is not a reasonable option.

OP, the most feasible option would be to drop in what you had in it to begin with.

I've done some research on perking up my 3RZ, but unfortunately I hit a dead end because I have a 95 ECU (swappable but requires changing engine sensors and ignition systems). The 95 ECU is unaware of what is happening when boost is applied and decides to retard the timing and lean out if you pass 3-4 PSI. Seems like the guys with newer 2RZs have better luck, stouter connecting rods and a newer ECU that can accept boost. I would like to supercharge my 3RZ, but $3500+ to perk up an old 4 banger that will likely need a rebuild to hold high boost just makes me want to do something more radical for a bit more money. Overall I see many supercharged guys on here decide to take their SC off due to continuous pinging and knocking issues. So I figure why not be a bit different and make a project out of fitting a boost friendly engine that has a reputation for being extremely reliable.

This is a project I have planned for long in the future. For now I just want to nurse along the ol 4 banger until I decide I'm ready to dig in and have a bellhousing made (the only part I don't believe that I could fabricate myself). But you are right, there are certainly other ways to make these engines play with boost and I thank you for being reasonable rather than disparaging. Wonder how this comment chain would have gone had I said I wanted to swap an LS motor in (love em, but I want more of a challenge).

BTW, the VQ30DE and the VQ35DE share the same block and the VQ35DE is mounted longitudinally (RWD) in many Nissan vehicles.

Very true, the easiest thing would be to just throw in another 3RZ from the same year range.
