Actually, there are rules about this. You can find them in Annex VI of MARPOL. Everything from the fuel used to the design of the engine and what’s in the exhaust gas is addressed. Even exhaust gas scrubbers are one method of compliance and I’ve seen them in action on cruise ships.

Your follow-up argument in which you quote an article about a container ship is logically flawed, as well. I could point out that modern slow-speed, 2-stroke Diesel engines have greater than 50% thermal efficiency and cargo ships use less fuel to move a given quantity of cargo a given distance than any other mode of transport, but that isn’t a response to your statement that a bigger machine uses more fuel and therefore creates more exhaust gas.

Barge is the wrong word to use, by the way.

I purchased my step from the dealer for $199 and it took about 40 minutes to put on after watching YouTube video. Should have gotten this accessory years ago. Perfectly engineered to get in and out of bed with tailgate open.

Perfect. As mentioned, there is absolutely no reason to "wish" for a mechanically-linked gas pedal anymore.

Wish for that all you want, but don’t argue from a position of ignorance on an unrelated subject to make your point.

Since I'm out of ban-hammer jail, I am a little late on this post. I started this Google Document a few years ago and have been adding to it when I think of an item. It doesn't mean that if my next truck/SUV doesn't have everything I won't buy it but I'm getting older, out of debt, and want to buy something with more creature comforts than I've ever had. Here's my copy and paste from my list:

    Features Wanted on New Vehicle

    • Dual zone auto climate control

    • Power seats

    • Heated front seats

    • Heated steering wheel

    • Tire pressure number display for each tire

    • Blind spot warning mirrors

    • Outside temp

    • Compass

    • Auto on/off/dimming high beams

    • Lane Departure Alert

    • Fog lights

    • Sub-woofer premium sound system w/Bluetooth streaming, QI charging, HD radio, Apple & Samsung compatible, NAV (if as good as my Garmin Driveluxe 51)

    • Remote start

    • Power back window

    • Inside 12VDC, 120VAC, USB jacks

    • Deluxe trip, mpg, range, computer

    • Digital cruise control (set to a specific speed number)

    • Auto sensing wipers

    • Built in garage door opener

    • Moon roof (maybe)

    • Auto dimming rear view mirror

    • Backup camera

    • Tonneau cover

    • Locking tailgate

    • Bed light

    • Bed step

I wish my Taco had a Subaru-style center headlight/passing light (“3rd eye”) located behind the grille emblem, activated by a switch on the turn signal stalk. Don’t ask me why, I was just always fascinated with the Subarus that had this feature. Still seems bizarre today. Still not really sure what the light was intended for, or when you were supposed to use it.

“The driver hit a switch on the turn-signal stalk and the Subaru grille emblem flipped up to expose the Cyclops-style middle headlight”

My dog seconds that! And how about a power rear slider for Access Cabs? I just about dislocate my shoulder every time I try opening the slider.

Nothing fancy, just a USB power outlet on the overhead console.

I will eventually add my own, but it seems basic- Tacoma features the GoPro camera mount, so why not include a location to charge it in close proximity?

For the record, I don't use the GoPro mount, but do have a dash cam at my rear view mirror. Just not interested in running wires down the side pillars.

I want to wire a USB plug in in the overhead console- nice and neat.
