Features you wish you had on your truck

Manual trans TRD pro in a Long bed, with a sunroof.

 

Traction control and a Bluetooth/Aux capable head unit. I have neither in my 07.

 

My list is more utilitarian than most of the soccer dads here.

-Lower geared reverse on the 6MT.
-Solid front axle. (like in the past).
-Transfer case lever. (not a dial switch).
-Nuetral option in the transfer case. (like in the past).
-Manual hubs. So I can have 2lo. (like in the past).
-Vinyl floors. (carpet sux).

 

I agree on the driver's side grab handle. It would be really nice.

I'm 6'4" so I was very careful to evaluate the roominess of the truck when I was doing test drives. I didn't want to feel cramped later on. It was an immediate evaluation that hasn't changed since the day I test drove several trucks. I haven't grown taller, lol.

You can reprogram your key fob to unlock all doors with a single click. I've seen other folks post up about doing so. I'd have to go look under the tips & tricks threads. It's in there somewhere.

As far as the cupholders.....I routinely use this 40oz RTIC cup and it fits fine in every position I've tried it in.




Again.....this is a 40oz cup !!! I can't ask more from them for cup holders.

Ohhh you know...that extra 50 cents they would have to spend in plastic just wasn't worth it

 

I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed that. I feel like I'm way out of touch with what modern truck owners expect a truck to be.

 

As I've said before, I predict that we will lose 4lo within the next 5-10 years, for the exact reason of what is important to many of the current TW truck owners we have now.

Many just want to look like they have an off road truck (for whatever reason that is), but want every feature found in sports cars and luxury cars. Not too many actually want functional "truck only" specific features.

When the Gen 1 Tacomas were currently the only Tacomas roaming the trails, who voted for an inverter in the bed, over a functional air compressor? Or the 12 zillion cup holders in place of the transfer case lever? Why?

Please stop with all these car like features guys! You are going to push Toyota to think all that matters is features, features, fearures, and then they'll provide you with a similar "truck" as Honda currently offers.

I like a utilitarian truck also, but the one I bought has many "non utilitarian" features.

Well, since I paid for them, I might as well enjoy them.....lol

Based on this thread, the male world is divided between rugged frontiersman and soccer dad's, with nothing in between- glad the real world isn't like that.

Also glad my truck has plenty of nice features, fwiw

 

My texts don't work on Entune. It was intermittent and now just not working. Touching the mic button on the phone never worked either. Although, what does work every time is just saying Ok Google. The Assistant fires up and does a text with no problems.

 

I had all those techie bells and whistles on my previous daily driver. They were more hassle than they were worth. The proximity sensors would get covered in snow or ice and go off anytime I slowed down.

 

You can set those to work. They are in the Settings in the headunit.

 

I got so frustrated with the head unit I swapped it for a Kenwood with car play and a Nav system your passenger can actually use while the truck is moving!

I hear you. That speed lockout was frustrating and dangerous because I had to keep looking over to see if a function was locked out or not or if I was just not hitting the button. To fix mine, I installed the HAI override cable and life has been great since.
