Don't you live in Victoria? How many scary test drives can you go on with seniors before you only bring out cars with emergency breaking.

Rumours used to keep out the riff raff. So far it’s working.

we have tons of them in the fleet. They are comfortable, luxurious, powerful, full of the all the latest tech, and smooth as silk to drive. The only problem is that they don’t stay that way for very long before the problems start. They keep our mechanics busy. The Chevys do too. Forget anything Chrysler they are absolute garbage.

This has not been my experience, but maybe the Canadian export Fords are built to a higher spec. I dunno.

I have personal issues with my truck, but I can't think of anything else in the mid size market I would rather have:

The Colorado & the Canyon are cool trucks, but their GM products, and my last vehicle (Nissan Pathfinder) was a lemon
The Ranger is cool, but boring
The gladiator is cool but expensive and if I wanted a Jeep I would just get a jeep
The frontier is fine but I just came from having a bad experience with a Nissan product
The Ridgeline is a fine vehicle, but it's pretty much stuck to being on pavement.

I used to live there, worked for the city in the Parks dept. I have a rental house over in Sannich that my son and a bunch of university students live in.
I wouldn't mind being back on the island lots of times

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Bought my Taco 10 years ago and hated it the moment I drove off the lot. I’m going to get the fuck rid of it in another 7 years

Y'all don't get the heat up there that we do down here, and baking in the heat just destroys plastics and electronics.

Having grown up in Houston I'm accustomed to brittle plastics on everything. But my taco is 19 years old and doesn't show nearly the same problems. But, it spent most of it's life in Canada, and so I suspect the lack of heat might have something to do with it.

Ours get used hard, and I mean seriously beat to shit. Sometimes they get handed off shift to shift without a break so there is that...

I've heard several people say 5.29's are better..... mostly for vehicles that are loaded down (excursion trucks) and towing.

Honestly, if you're not just towing a small boat down to your favorite hole or a small weekend hauler, you should get a full size, anything with a V8.
I saw a hitch on a Prius the other day, hitch don't equal truck stuff.

I had a rental F-150 while the dealer was working on my Tacoma and it was a fantastic driving truck that even sounded great but as far as long term reliability I wouldn't know. The trans shifted perfectly and the 5.0 Coyote motor was fantastic.

Maybe nothing wrong with it... But there certainly isn't anything right about it.

My mechanic friend knows I keep my toyotas for a long time. I’ve got a 2005 Camry and just sold a 2006 sienna. He said that the F150s built today cost big money to maintain down the road. Not in the first 5 or 6 years. His exact advice was if I’m going to hang onto it for more that 5 years, don’t even consider anything other than the Tacoma.
