why is it most people only care when the feds go after our guns. what about when they trample the 1st amendment like today with the fcc voting that they can now regulate the internet. nobody cares that we have the patriot act and we now hold people in prision forever without ever even charging them, and now the administration says it has the right to assassinate even american citizen without due process. nobody cares when the federal reserve continues to inflate our money supply bringing us even closer and closer to collapse. wake the fuck up, they are taking all of our rights, the idea of liberty in america is becoming a myth.

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). I appreciate hearing from you.

I understand the concerns you have regarding the proposed rulemaking (Docket 2010–31761) submitted to the Federal Register by the BATFE on December 17, 2010. This proposed rule would require licensed firearms dealers in states that border Mexico to notify the BATFE when they sell two or more semiautomatic rifles greater than .22 caliber with detachable magazines. This proposed rule was developed by the BATFE as part of its efforts to reduce cross border drug and weapons trafficking, and the associated high level of violence occurring on the border between the U.S. and Mexico. I have taken note of your comments, and I will keep them in mind as I conduct oversight of the BATFE.

Please know, I believe the right to bear arms, granted to us under the Second Amendment, is vital to our existence as a nation. As a gun owner and avid hunter, I believe strongly that our Second Amendment rights must be protected. From my position in the Senate, I will continue to support the Second Amendment right of Americans.

How amazing even to get a form letter from your elected officials in response. Here in Nevada we have Harry Reid- who, like most in Washington, has arrogantly ignored their constituents for so long it would be nekulturny to acknowledge them.

Response from my Senator

Dear Mr. Snyder:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about an emergency rule proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to require reporting on bulk gun sales on the Mexican border health care reform. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

On December 17, 2010, the ATF proposed an emergency rule requiring gun dealers in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas to report multiple sales of semiautomatic rifles of greater than .22 caliber with detachable magazines. Assault rifles, which include AK-47s and AR-15s, are known to be favored by Mexican drug cartels. According to the ATF, more than 60,000 guns seized by police and the military in Mexico have been traced back to sources in the United States.

On February 4, 2011, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rejected the ATF’s request for the emergency rule, citing President Obama’s commitment to curbing excessive regulation and increasing transparency. The proposed rule wil undergo the normal process for reviewing proposed regulations. In addition, the public comment period was extended until February 14, 2011.

As you may know, I support the Second Amendment and will continue to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. I also believe we must fully enforce existing gun laws and help local governments put more law enforcement officers on the street. I will fight to give law enforcement more resources to find criminals with guns, to find gun dealers who violate existing laws and to increase gun law prosecutions.
