I get really fucking pissed when I see dumbshits texting next to me on the highway. I don't know if it was covered in this thread and quite honestly I don't give a shit to read the whole thing, but without a hands-free law, it is essentially un-enforceable.

If you get pulled over for "texting" all you have to do is say you were dialing a phone number and they can't write you a ticket.

I'm for hands-free laws. But there will always be distractions while driving. Like kids. Kids are a huge fucking distraction. I don't see anyone trying to outlaw kids while driving. I would back that bill in a heartbeat.

No government should be allowed to control ANY of these things. They are personal liberties. The government needs to stop trying to "protect" its citizens from things like these. Maybe we should all wear helmets on sidewalks so we don't get hurt when we trip and fall. We don't need the government to control our daily actions anymore. They are in our lives to much as it is.

To the people that want to block cell signal in cars; what happens to the passengers of the vehical? They sent allowed to use their phones either? Or what happens something happens and you need to call the police on the move? Think about stuff you suggest.

Yeah, well if you had to dodge little fucking Asian bitches all day in their Audis and Minis with their already piss-poor driving skills compounded by texting in ching-chong or whatever you'd be mad too.

The speed limit is 60, not 45, bitch.

I guess we should just throw all safety standards out the window then, eh?

Planes don't need landing gears! Crumple zones and reinforcing beams are for the weak!

For what it's worth, I don't think cell signals should be blocked, though. That's too big-brother.

people who text or talk on the phone while driving are idiots, plain and simple. There are scientific studies that prove it is unsafe.

People who think they can do it just fine are irresponsible and an endangerment those around them.

Yep, got rear-ended last year but some idiot. I got covered entirely through insurance but sued the idiot civilly as well. I had the court obtain his cell phone records and what-do-you-know, he was talking at the time of the accident...

We didn't need to talk on our phones in the eighties, and we don't need to now, simple as that, there are no excuses for it. If you must make a call, pull over. I guess that's too hard to understand for some people.

this is nanny-state BS... there's no need for laws like this if people are held accountable for their actions... as others have said, this is the kind of thing that is a slippery slope to banning everything in hopes of a crappy bubble-wrap society where you are a "subject" of the gov't..

..besides, look at states that have banned text-while-driving, ..the accident rates have increased because the ones that defy the law do it under a context that is more dangerous than out in the open!

I think its absolutely retarded that they are trying to ban hands free stuff and I have an extremely hard time agreeing with this when I see 90% of the cops talking on phone/playing on the damn computer when they are driving. Oh... and I can almost guarantee those dumbasses that pulled this out of their ass talk on the phone just as much...

Just another way the country is trying to control everyone's lives.

Just because he was on the phone, that doesn't necessarily mean the cell phone was the distraction that caused the accident. Not saying it wasn't but it could have just as easily been something beside the road that caught his attention.

..ok, well, just look at great britian (i.e. the nanny-state), ..where banning "pointy" kitchen knives is good fer the chilrens..

..how about new york city (bloombergia), ..where they are banning the use of salt? ...or chicago, where only crooks, cops, and corrupt politicans are "allowed" to bear arms..
