I need to get going and do some things to my truck . Summer is over . Some surface rust under the cab I need to clean up and paint . I still have a bit of a shudder in the drive line if I take off too fast . The CB shim took care of some of it ,maybe I need the shims at the Dakar’s

 

The dakar shims should help a bit as well.

What amp are you going to use with the sub ? JBL Makes a 5 channel that's reasonably priced and would sound really good on your door speakers. It sounds like you got bit by the car audio bug. May want to check out the soundstream picasso as well. Its price is really attractive but I'm not sure on its quality. Soundstream use to make some really nice stuff.

 

So many decisions! In your experience is it better to run door speakers + sub(s) off of 1 amp or 1 amp for doors and 1 amp for sub(s)?

 

For simplicity's sake I say go with a five channel amplifier. Unless there's space issues. In general, you might get more wattage out of separate amplifiers, but the five channels I've looked at are nothing to sneeze at.

 

I have my mono sub mounted to the sub box, out of sight and clean. My 4 way fit nicely under the drivers seat, also out of sight but both are easily accessible for tuning.

 

It's all about how much you want to spend I guess. More amps give you more flexibility but cost, install time and weight go up. I think you would be very happy with that 5 channel jbl I linked. It's simple and effective. It also has a lot more power than I was expecting. It should suit all your needs. The amount of power it puts out for its size is impressive as well. It replaced another 5 channel amp I had under the seat and fits much better,sounds better, and has more power.

 

Just be aware, with a 5 channel... If one part goes down your whole system goes down. Happened to me with my Memphis big Belle once and it was down for 2 weeks until the replacement was shipped. Never had a 5 channel since then
