My goodness, that's insane. In and around my place, they take like 10 minutes tops.

Yeah I had a place that was super lenient but they went out of business during COVID.

Oof, yeah, I read about that one. Still though, I don't recall inspections needing to be that thorough...

I'll third them. I've used their stuff for a few years and have been very happy with them. Their prices are great for a performance-level product (in some guises).

VA checks one side of the brakes. They're also supposed to check the depth (?) of the rotors and drums. Those are things I'm okay with failing for.

Huh, that's fascinating. In MA, as far as my experience goes, they lift up the sides and put it down to "check" the shocks/springs. Never even touch the wheels. But maybe that's just the one dude.

I mean, the worst thing that happened to me was that my exhaust fell off once due to rust, but that was on a 14 year old Sequoia that never got an underbody wash.

Hmm, I never quite got rust that bad, even on a 14 year old car. Can't say for certain as I've never heard of that either.

Shit time to move if they are going into that much detail, sounds like a CA inspection. NC if it stops and doesn't make a distinct metal to metal sound pulling in the bay you're good. All of it is visual no taking anything apart to investigate.

Seems like they may have been "looking for work" more than actually doing an inspection.
